StevO, I know people will make up their own minds, but I wouldn't be taking a Jayco anything, anywhere near Nolans. The extra weight and the extra face of the van with water on it will sink them. Be a shame to spoil a great holiday by drowning your rig. We've just come back and also took the right side line without too much trouble.

Why not park the van at twin falls campground and do the tele without the van? - That's what I would do

We left our van at Mt Carbine Van Park (free) and picked it up on the way back.

Out of the four families I am the only one with a camper trailer (not a Jayco). We will assess each crossing and situation as they come. We have had a fair bit of feedback from other travellers over the last year and will continue to keep asking travellers along the way on conditions of the tracks and crossings ahead of us. I think the CREB is worrying me the most at this stage. I hope it doesn't start to rain after we pass the ppoint of no return.

hey stevo i wouldn't worry about the creb , if its open you will get through its over rated i will post pictures asap. the northern end of the tele track is the thing to be worried about . gunshot is a breeze and will be even with a camper . there is only one line you can take . i cannot highly recomend that if you like your vehicle do not take on nolans brook with a trailer unless its a boat with an outboard and some one driving it . palm creek entry from the south is probably ok , if you come from the north you will need a winch

That is the only way to tackle any obstacle, no point in making decisions based on what others told you about the conditions a month or more ago, Things can change on a daily basis up that way.

We went through Nolans last year with the camper, almost made it, would have made it if I had done a better job driving; but thats life. Yes we got a couple of inches of water in the Prado but had it all dry and everything A1 within 24 hours. If I was up there again this year and the conditions were similar to last year I would tackle it again.

Last year when we went the Creb was closed due to rain, Frenchmans was impassable due to the Pasco being 5 feet deep, gotta get up that way again and have another go for sure.

                    Cheers Andrew

i agree aj , i dont take much notice of what anyone says, and i love to prove people wrong . i accidentally posted a couple of pics of nolans on my creb post . thats the bullbar 2 inches under and then it got ugly and i stopped taking pics when i started to fail to proceed . and youre right everything changes year to year month to month . the exit at gunshot that you see roothy blow a cv in the dvd no longer exists there's 40 ft of it missing and being in earthmoving id guess at somewhere at 80 tonne possibly more of earth missing from that exit alone.

This is the correct line for Nolans Brook. We went through there on Jul 24th. There were 6 cars before us, 2 with trailers. Only 2/6 made it through without winching or snatching. We had 3 cars in our convoy, 2/3 went through without getting stuck. I must have walked it about 20 times before I decided on this line.

Make sure you hug the bank on the left as tight as possible

Take the plunge and turn hard right. While I was in the deep water, I had almost no traction or steering and ended up just short of a tree on the right hand side but luckily by then I was as good as out. A short 3 point turn in the shallow water and I was out. Dry as a koala.

Exit on the right hand side as there is a steep bank on the exit on the left hand side.

What a difference 3 weeks makes! On the 8th July, Nolan's Brook was approx 20cm deeper than the above photos... (was 1.2 meters deep).

Pardon me if I find it hard to believe that people are driving through crossings 1.2 metres deep. How are people measuring this 1.2 metres? I just measured the top bar of my bullbar and it is approx 1.1 metres, add 100mm to that and the water is at the bottom of the windscreen add another 300mm for the bow wave and the water level is half way up the windscreen with water flowing freely over the roof and you have zero visibility.

Or is the depth really 900mm -1 metre and people add the bow wave to make it sound more impressive, I read on another forum that a bloke reckoned he towed his trailer through the Pascoe on the Frenchmans with a 1.2 metre water level, anyone who has seen that crossing knows that it must be BS.

I must say though boomslang those pics are impressive.
                              Cheers Andrew

The direct route trough was still very very deep - more than waste deep at around 1m. We followed the shallower line by entering on the left hand side, then accross to exit on the right hand side. My Prado will float at 1.2m.
