Heading off again on Monday, decided to go coastel this year for a change.
Were heading to Fraser for 5 nights then Bundaberg for some rum. After that we dont have anything planned but are heading towards Cairns & Daintree, we'll see what hapens.

Any tips on places to stop between Bundy & Cairns?

bunderburg rum factory yota, watch out for drop bears though, i heard they frequent this area. cheers samo

Paluma national park 50 kays north of Townsville is well worth a look. Wallaman falls just out of Ingham is definately worth a look. Airlie beach is nice so is Bowen. Drive straight through Ayr nothing to see there but feral junkies.

1770 would be good place to have a look around only a couple hours out of Bundy.

Eungella inland a short distance from Mackay, stop for a pie at the Pinnacles pub. Good 4WD track from near the pinnacles pub to Broken River near Eungella, will take around 5 hours to do the track. We have a PP member from Eungella "Case" only a young lad 18yo but could help with some more info on the area.

How about Coonarr and Kinkuna National Park (Sand driving and beach campsites - all free). We were there over the 5 day Easter long weekend and, Yes there were other people about, but most of the people camping wouldn't have been able to see their neighbours, unless they were in a group and wanted to camp next to one another. Coonarr's only about 20 minutes from Bundy. Also try the coastal towns around Bargara for a visit. Travelling north you can call into Miara, poplular with locals for the Council run caravan park and then onto Baffle Creek, Deepwater NP (very nice) and Agnes and 1770.

We're spoilt for options here and don't need to go too far for solitude and 4WDing. Enjoy your trip.

Byfield National park north east of Rocky, and out to 5 Rocks. Woodgate just south if Bundy is a great seaside town to stay in.

some great sounding stops there, we'll have to see what we can fit in in only 4 weeks.
