The main problem with the exit at Palm Creek was not the mud. I've conquered tracks a lot more slippery than that, but you cannot make up enough speed because it is so narrow. I'm sure if I showed the same commitment as the Disco, I would have made it but I could not get myself so far to bang the car against those walls because you have no steering at that speed on that surface.2004 GXL V6, full house

Hey boomslang, those pics of yours look like the northern bank, I towed the trailer up there last year and as you say it wasn't as wet as it was for you. I then unhooked the trailer and went back across to pick up Trish as she took all the photos and missed the fun. The pics I posted above are going up the South bank heading back towards Bramwell Junction, most fun you can have with your pants on I reckon.
This was the Northern bank, not too hard the day we were there.

Did you have any problems getting out the Northern bank? This creek caught us by surprise, it was never on our radar as a difficult one, we read up on Gunshot, Nolans, Sams, etc.. but never expected our first creek to be that difficult, just 5 minutes after we left Bramwell. After that wake up call there was no way anybody turned around for more. We proceeded with a nervous exitement. We had our fair share of exitement by the time we cleared Nolans, topped up by the Frenchmans and the Creb.2004 GXL V6, full house

That was a last minute fix. He was looking at my unifilter snorkel sock and bought a lawnmower filter (or something) which he held in position with the RSA mirror flag. They sold them in South Africa during the world cup to show support for your team. Anyway, it wasn't a big success and he removed it shortly after that.2004 GXL V6, full house

I didn't have any issues with the Northern bank but it looks like it was quite a bit wetter when you were there, Of course both diffs locked was the reason I was able to drive the south bank without winching.
Can't wait to get back, spewing we couldn't get onto the Creb or through the Frenchmans looks like you all had a great time this year.

hey guys , i made it up the north side easy with a very big dose of right foot, i spoke to a bloke at somerset who had to winch up in a v8 cruiser ute because the exit was so deep and narrow that the ute body got wedged . it had the scars to prove it. on the southern side was a bunch of guys with 6inch lifted patrol traytops with 35s that popped beads and had to winch out the night before . they were licking their lips with delight when i turned up with a prado . i just had to dissapoint themLast edited by kav; 23-08-2011, 08:28 PM.03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . my trip was extremely quick but very memorable . and if i drop dead tommorrow ive still done it , ive been waitin 30 years and it gives more reason to go back . just get out there and do it stop worrying about what you need or what people tell you you need or how you should do it . ( please people don't take this as me slagging anybody for how they have done their trip ) to quote NIKE "just do it " if youv'e got a prado it will handle it and look after you . cheers03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . Kav, I agree 100% with you. We had to rush it as well and I have now put it down as a recce for my next trip. I watched the Gall Boys FNQ adventure tonight and they did most the same tracks although in reverse. I can't wait to get back there and do it all over again - slowly.2004 GXL V6, full house
