    Hi Strider

Galde you made it back home, I am the other, other guy from prado point who was riding shot gun in the black Jeep.

Our group went back down the OTL and back at Nolan's and there was more drama, a group of tricked up 80's went straight in and sank. Rumour has it the car count was up around 40ish......

Ps thanks again for the Chilli!

We had heard from someone in Weipa Campground that the only way to get across without drowning the vehicle was to attach a snatch-up strap BEFORE crossing, and get the vehicle already across to help pull you through. Then you do the same for the next vehicle.

We did this, and 5 cars in our group made it across Nolan's with no dramas.

Note that our car actually started to float at the rear, meaning that there was NO rear traction.

However as we were attached to the car ahead of us, he just kept pulling us through until we touched bottom again.
        Rob.

Our Group got through Nolan's without a hitch. There were quite a few people camped on the banks drying out there cars though. We found that going as far left as possible and then turn hard right when your nose just hits the deep hole and drive out. We had six in the group and all made it through. Ill find a picture.

Hi all here are my photos of Nolan's.

I still think the Ford crossing before Nolan's was more of a challenge and I have video of my car floating across the ford. You can see my car bobing up and down luckily still moving forward.

I'm really sorry to hear about your flood Strider and I hope that everything works out for you.

Thanx for all the kind thoughts everyone. Keeping HARD left was definately the key. I have some photo's of me crossing the swamp before Nolan's which looked harder but the firm bottom made all the difference. When I get the photo's of me stuck in Nolans from my mate I will post them also.

Dpom I would also like to thank you and your mates for all the offers of help. The people we meet on the track is waht brings us back I believe.

              Cheers
              Alan

Nolans caught us as well last year. Fortunately we where standstill for 20 seconds or so, but still had 100mm water on the floor. The camper didn't help but at least no water in it.
At least your insurance will cover it.
Bit surprised the water caused so much damage as to make a total loss.

So was I Rusty. You would think 70K could buy alot of electrical bits. Aparently it comes down to the fact they guarantee the repairs for life and it can come back and bite them year after year.

Well today seen me awake from the nightmare with a smile. A brand new 2012 GXL (Nick Named the MK II for obvious reasons) was delivered to me at work today. I have to wait a couple of more weeks for the bull bar to be fitted, but atleast i am driving a Prado again.

                    Cheers

Same spot as me. I knew I needed to be more left but although I turned the wheel I was already digging in and it refused to go left.
