We could consider an alternative meeting spot. It's guaranteed that we'd fill the car park with the numbers we have. Or, are we able to park along one of the roads outside of maccas?

Also, ummm.. I may not be able to drive this one My new ratios will probably still be in their "break in" period, which means short drives and minimal stress. I'll try to rack up some soft km's before then, but if not, I'll have to ride with someone else.

I hadn't thought of that Glen. I'm guessing that the diffs need a few thousand km to wear in. Is lyfe's passenger seat free?

Re: the parking situation. I don't know Richmond that well but is there a shopping centre with a good size parking lot?

~800 KM. With my daily driving it'll take 2 months to accomplish that. I'm sure Lyfe will have room

I'm not a local either.. according to Google cam the street parking near Macca's is non-existant - it's all no stopping. So maybe right next door at the train station car park, or Aldi? (Paget St).

The RSL carpark looks good. What do ya reckon Declan? It's cnr Toxana St and Francis St, Richmond
Macca's is definitely more convenient with toilets and food - but depending on final numbers, we may be pushing the limits of our welcome.

              carpark

I may be wrong but I dont think half will fit under the entry to the carpark, sure its only 1.8/1.9 high unless there is another entry ?? I know I couldnt get my 95 series in there with a lift ?? I may be wrong but just be wary if going in that way.Regards Steve

Hmm, well we'd need at least 2.4m clearance.

I've never been there before, but looking at google maps/street view there appears to be a very large open air parking lot for the club, on the north side of Francis St (across the road from the club ??).... can anyone confirm ??

Agreed that Maccas would be most convenient but final numbers may rule it out.

Yes height needs to be considered as there are 2 Patrols with +4" lift. I think the Aldi car park might be the shot.

I will be heading to Lidsdale for a reconnaissance trip this Sunday to assess logistics and track conditions and I'll check out the suggested meeting points.

I can confirm the Richmond market place has 2 heights 2.0m and 1.9m in one section at woolies end,my daughter discovered this late one night leaving work in the 90s prado when she decided to short cut thru the empty park bays and succesfully remove 1 rhino rack with the only damage being the black cover strip on the gutter rails, she then rang me to ask how many racks there should be when i sent her back to retrieve the missing rack.

As to alternatives for meeting point
The Richmond club does have large carpark opp club in francis st and also has a free caravan park there
                    http://www.wanderest.com.au/

you also could try PUGHS Lagoon at west end of Francis ST

NTH Richmond hotel carpark across bridge next to BP
                    OR
further west up my neck of the woods at the Kurrajong Hts hotel carpark Bells L ine of Rd which has a good view and out of the way.
I often think when you guys do these runs that you could do the detour Kurrajong Hts via Burralow creek behind K/jong Hts and back out to Bilpin near fruit bowl.[Need to confirm if KJ end is reopen yet as track has been shut for last 3months but was due to be reopened by now]
I would like to come on this trip but it is also my not 21st b/day and not sure wwat we are up to at this stage

New 2015 150s GX 5 seater with floor mats, towbar and a big wish list
Previously a 2004 120s 1KZ GX silver manual with stuff
before that a 1996 RV6 90S with lots of gear

Oooh well in that case there's an alternative entrance I've been wanting to check out, on the south/western side. I've been wondering if it'll be a quicker way in (by avoiding the pine forest section).

We've ended a few trips by heading out that way, the roads good and there's a large cleared area a few minutes drive in where everyone would be able to air down. It would just take longer for all you guys to get there that's all as obviously you would have to either take the road to the south across the dam wall or cut down from the Highway through Rydal.

According to Google maps, that entrance is ~10km further from the Bells line/Great Western intersection than the pine forest entrance regardless of whether we turn left or right at the Great Western Hwy.

Could this be a better entrance for the number of vehicles Jeff?

I wouldn't worry about the traffic factor. If we come accross other vehicles they'll just have to make room for us to pass. I've been through worse down in VIC on billy goats bluff track - very steep, often narrow, and lots of traffic!

The western entrance might save us 20 minutes but it's probably not worth mucking about with. At least we know it's drivable if we want an alternative exit.

I doubt it would be better, I think the large flat clearing where we usually air down in the pine forest would be better for the large number of vehicles. As long as no trail bikers are set up there first.

The 10 day weather forecast for Lithgow is looking a bit crappy at the moment.

                                Temp: 21-23°C (pretty good)
Partly cloudy with rain in the morning and Partly cloudy, No Precipitation. Possibility of Thunderstorm in the afternoon.

We'll see how the forecast develops. Mt Walker might have to go on hold for me if the shale rocks turn slippery
