  • Sydney > cape york(return) 2 weeks, xmas, doable?

Just trying to plan a xmas break with the minister, thinking of doing the cape, but we only have 2 weeks. Is this too short a time to get to the cape from sydney, enjoy it, and get back to sydney? Do you need (realistically) more than one vehicle to do the cape (150, winch, at, uhf, recovery gear, no lockers, no van)? feedback wanted!

Btw I do know 2 weeks is short, circumstances don't allow for a longer time as yet!

    Far too short IMO.

I have done sydney to townsville in one go (stopping to sleep) and that alone had me stuffed for a few days.

    I would fly/hire.

        Hey Ryzz,
I totally agree with Kav. It's the wet season, the roads are impassable. Even though they have had little rain to date this season, when it starts, and it will, it comes down pretty hard and the creeks fill up quickly. There will be no others up there at this time to help. I'd plan a bit more time and go in the dry.
Look for another destination for Christmas.

        Cheers
