Piet/Renee took the smaller steps but an off-camper angle made it difficult:

Pulling out their winch for it's very first use:

Declan taking the chicken track - a wise move!!

Next was a pretty steep climb with the option of hard or monster hard. It looked quite scary at first.

Ben crawled up easily with the GQ:

Declan next; the first few steps were easy but the larger proved to be quite an issue. Plenty of wheel spin here:

On perhaps the third attempt; he climbed the step but somehow decided to go right instead of left:

It was a pretty bad angle, so we decided it's time for a support strap or winch:

        Climbing the last corner:

          My turn:

Approaching the larger step here. I little wheel spin but she still climbed straight up:

This corner is a little tight, then add wheel spin, and it's fairly concerning being so close to these big rocks. For me, coming back down this in the wet was the second most scary part of the day:

Piet next; again, the large step created some trouble with plenty of wheel spin:

We had more vehicles approaching behind us now so didn't muck around too much anymore. Time for Boomslang's second winch recovery:

Getting around the corner... with gusto!

I really loved the next section. The choices were hard, very hard and comp truck. I took the very hard option but unfortunately I don't have any shots of it.

Declan and Piet and Declan took the "chicken" track, which wasn't chicken at all. It's two separate steps but they're both pretty big!

              Ouch!

We stacked some rocks and Piet had another go. He almost made it:

At this point our day turned to $#!^. Just as we started to recover Piet via snatch strap, the sudden torrent of rain came down and soaked us all. We all go to the top of this section and discussed our options. With only a quarter of the track left to go, it was very tempting to continue (or was that just me?). According to Ben, the next few challenges were harder, so back we went:

Piet stuck again. I think this was the 4th winch recovery:

This one required some care as the rocks were on an angle, and that tree is very close:

Last climbs out of the track:

                      Piet's final winch recovery - which made a total of 6 !

At the top of the final climb:

Here's the Wheeny Creek causeway after the rain, about 0.5M high and with a very strong current. Before the rain it was about 5cm.

                        That's all folks.

Definitely that cross camber section early in the track, when exiting. The more I drove down the sandstone edge the worse the angle, then when climbing the next face it got worse instead of better, and started slipping towards the edge a little. The vehicle could probably handle more angle than that, but it's not easy to test.

Yeah, I would have to agree. That was the scary bit for me too.

If that monster Hilux with the other group didn't roll, then we all should have had a fair bit more to go!

Great photo's by you both so far, hanging for the video.
