You will be amazed with difference Max. Go easy with the front locker to begin with. Use the rear locker proactively and soon enough you'll be confident with when to use them.

I don't know if I'll be on another pp trip after tomorrow though. I might not be welcome around here any more

Are you trying to say... "PP trips will be too boring for me after tomorrow"

        • Might be easier to find one with petrol still, then get the conversion done your self by some one. Still get I think $1200 rebate (maybe $1500) not sure and that way you have your duel fuel if needed, Just gas i reckon personally would be a pain in the ars*, very limited to where you can fill up and in some of the outer suburbs of Sydney the garage may not be open on sundays or late at night like they are here at home ?? I havnt had a look but I reckon there would be heaps of petrols for sale, especially compared to the 4.2D's they starting to be as rare as rocking horse sh*t....You can get diesel in auto but extremely rare then you have the 24V imports (heaps of them)..Your right but you can only do so much to the prado and it still wont match the patrol in sheer strength, the best drive line out there, no need for lockr in the rear with the Nissan LSD again the best, and as I said coil all round with live axle. You could always go the ZD30 there cheap and can get in auto ...............Cheers Steve

As Seko85 has stated there's too much bickering on patrol forums ..... So you would be welcome always to the pradio trips

Its funny that, I have a MIG, steel, body filler and paint!

If you are going that route Declan, shop around there are a lot for sale and it is christmas which means people need money. Don't jump on the first one you see, you have the bargaining power.

PM me if you want any info to try and keep this thread on track.

              • I have been following this thread as I know the track you drove very well.

I can't quite figure out who is after the Patrol (was it Declan?) and I might add, I am completely bias towards my current flavour of 4wd but...

Have you considered a smaller Suzuki for your rock crawling aspirations?

Sierra or Vitara are both capable with very minimal mods and a fraction of the cost of a Patrol.

Also, don't discount your IFS set up for what you are trying to drive.

That track is hard (even worse in the wet!) but a skilled and experienced driver will outdrive a noobie in a monster truck.

Go again next week, in the dry, knowing the lines an you will probably nail it!

I like the look of a Prado (hense why I lurk here a bit) and look forward to coming out for a run with you guys sometime.

                Cheers,
                Darren

                • Hey all,
I have 6 videos to upload, here's the first, starting with the initial drop into the hard stuff by all 4 vehicles:

                  • Here's two of the smaller rock sections early in the track:

                    • #3. This is a fun section of the track, with three major steps to tackle (and easy/hard options).

                      • #4. Multiple steps in one short hit. I managed to get both front wheels in the air here, but it came with consequences. The Boomslang team used their winch for the first time.

                        • #5. A steep climb with little choices. This one really shows the differences between the vehicles. Declan tries to roll his Prado in this, and there's a bonus truck - an unlocked Hilux, doing it hard.

                          • #6. A little bit of the last rocks before the rain started. Some clips on the way out and crossing the Wheeny Creek in flood.
