If we do not go to Gordon Country this weekend we may join you next weekend, I will let you know early next week.

You still running those Grandtreks, any closer to the BF Goodrich AT's?

The VX has the slightly better AT22's on it, so far they have suited us fine for what we have done with it. I attempted to import 5 of the new BFG rugged terrains however had trouble with the import duty side of things, long story... Whilst BFG are charging $530.00 a tyre for them I will wait it out, once they hit the $400 or below mark I will put a set on.

I won't be able to confirm until later next week.
There will be a coupla other varieties of fourby's so all are welcome.

We should be going Richo, the mrs is keen to know if your lovely wife is also accompanying you on this trip???
Last time I visited Janowen, it was during a 4WD Club induction, then it rained hard for a while and people were getting stuck in blacksoil. As I remember it the camp grounds were quite nice. Just remember to check in at the office further down the road from the park.

              Talk soon,

              Cheers.

                Hi Stewy

Yes the TLD,SLD is attending as well as a couple of grandkids, at this point a coupla Pathfinders as well. The weather is not so promising though, the forecast is for heavy showers on Saturday and Sunday, temp 25, better than the 44 in the car park here at Wacol!!

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

Sounds Good Richo, I see what you mean by Saturday's weather forcast looking a little iffy.
Will check again closer to the end of the week.

We were at Gordon Country last weekend and went for a drive through Janowen Hills after Saturdays downpour. The tracks were very slippery. Hopefully the rain will hold off for next weekend.

The weather forecast is getting better, now its down to possible showers If it wet then it'll be the first mud driving I've had for ages. Winch goes on tomorrow so I'll be keen to give it a go, maybe winching the Pathfinders out

We plan on getting there early Saturday morning to put the tent up before it gets too hot there is a mud map on the Janowen Hills website. Don't forget that they only take cash, funny Gordon Country down the road is the same.

Maybe a plan is to set up, go for a drive then Saturday afternoon maybe a trip to the Allora pub for a quite bevy with the locals.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

OK folks, the latest plan is to meet at the campsite at the park, we will be there around 8.00am Saturday barring any issues, channel 16 for a call on the UHF. Winch is fitted, weather is now daytime 25 and nightime 16 with the possibility of light showers so it looks good at this stage. If you are planning on coming can you post before Saturday what time you think of arriving so we can get some track times sorted.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

I'm a definite. The rest of my family has now pulled out (chickens), so I'll be on my Pat Malone... As we only have a Monster tent which I dont want to muck around setting up for myself for one night, I will head down to Rays this arvo as the latest catalogue has some little cheap (and probably nasty...) dome tents which will be fine for an overnighter. Planning to arrive around 8.30, so by the time I figure out how to put the f#***#g new tent up, I should be ready for a drive around 4 in the afternoon!!! (not).
All jokes aside, hopefully the heavy rain will stay away from the tracks and we can all have a good, safe weekend.

ps. are you intending on securing a spot, setting up camp first and then checking in at the kiosk or the other way around? (I believe the kiosk is open from 8.00am)

As Pm'd Richo, I and my partner are defintites. We plan to get there by 8.30am but it depends if I understand & fathom my new GPS?? Re above: I was told over the phone to go to the shop first..paperwork etc..then I guess you can go to the campsite after payment.
Taking a tiny dome tent as it's only one nite..going back to 'old school' roughing it..not used to that sort of thing!
                              Thanks for the invite. C.

                                Richo,

Just to let you know there is limited phone reception around the area. Definately nothing on Vodafone but I got some texts up the hill inside the 2nd entry to Janowen Hills with Telstra.
