Report and PIcs from Janowen Hills - Weekend 14th - 15th Jan 2012

Well Folks,....what a great weekend out for the first of many for the SEQld Crew in 2012.
The rain held off for most of it aswell,.....thank goodness.

We had quite a few new faces and vehicles including 2 x Pathfinders and 2 x FJ Cruisers. WOW !!
There was quite a bit of sibling rivalry with the FJ's in attendance, but I believe by the end of the weekend they had earn't the respect they deserve.
For a 4WD Vehicle under $50k, these things in stock form, go anywhere you point them.

      Well now onto the report

We all met out at Janowen Hills 4wd Park, it was a quick meet and greet, setup the tents and out for Drive.

At first Richoson was keen to show us all his NEW Kingone Mako Winch.
It didn't take us to long to see that YES, it was spooled up on PINK rope.

With his Pink Winch Rope, it was time to relax into the weekend,....feeling very camp

The group then decided to head out for a drive around the park.

Fozzy led the group through some tight winding trails, overall nothing too difficult, then on and up to one of the lookouts.

          Report Cont

On our return to camp, Richo and Gay spotted a 100series Cruiser in a bit trouble on the last section of an xtreme trail.
It was the Pink Winch Rope to the rescue.

We arrived back at the campsite for a bite to eat, and after much FJ sledging (all in good fun), John was keen to show Richo how well these FJ's climb rutted, rocky, loose trails in stock form. Lucky enough there was such a trail on our doorsteps.....then out came the camera's.
We were all blown away with how the FJ performed on this trail right near the campsite.

(I do have a quick vid of this in action - Rear Diff Locked in and A-Track at work)
          Youtube vid to follow soon

Day2 saw us wake to a damp morning, but the sun later came out to dry the tents.
The cloudy weather didn't stop us from enjoying the serenity and the company of others that camping and 4wding brings.

We headed out mid morning for a quick play b4 packing up and heading home.

We arrived at the parks Competition Area, and few couldn't resist the temptation to test out the suspension.

"mmmnnnnn, maybe I give this mud and water a miss or I could be getting recovered by a Pink Winch rope shown on Pradopoint.com".... lol

Thankyou also again to Richo,... who organised our first SEQld PP Trip for 2012.

...and regardless of all the vehicle makes that came,...the 120 is still the king of the hill

All good Snaga, we went there about 2 years ago and they were great. The farmer let us steal his quad bike for the weekend and we gave him some money for fuel. Kids had a great time getting in and help feed the animals and were moving chickens around the different pens. We had a great time. I did hear that her husband has been I'll and she is now running the whole thing herself.

Yeah, he looked a bit frail... all I saw him do was watch the cricket and hang out 1 towel on the line.
I'll have to do a trip report and get back on topic here

                    Nice report there Stewy!!
Didn't you guys want to do any HARD tracks without the 90 there to recover you all
                    Cheers, Leon

There was plenty I didn't capture Snaga, the trails varied from an easy bush drive to xtremely nuts.
The trail the 100series Cruiser came up required 4-6inchs of lift and 35's, he almost made it too.

We all drove quite a few moderate trails, and some on the hard side of moderate.
Best of all,.... no damage from the weekend.

Here's few more to look at.

Stop it! Please stop it. No more pictures. No more reports about how good the weekend was. I can barely take it any more!!!

BTW, that 100-series had his own winch. Did he choose not to use it because he preferred pink?

Ah well, I missed a good outing.

                            Hi Matt

The guy in the 100 series and his wife on the passenger side weren't game to get out of the car as it was teetering, as a matter of fact the wife was leaning out the window when we first got there.

It was also a great opportunity to show SWMBO that the money for the winch was well spent. I think she appreciated it more due to the fact that we used it to assist somebody else in trouble and not myself in trouble

See ya on the tracks (next time), Richo.

I'm a bit suss about the whole winch recovery thing. I swear I saw Richo give the guy the nod as he walked past him at the campsite, so I reckon it was a setup so that any objection Gay might have had was well and truly put to bed.

How else can you explain that all this happened just as we appear at the track this guy was on, and those strange clicks on the squelch as we came down the hill....

                              Own up Richo!

                              Cheers,

I'm with Fozzy,....looked like a setup to justify to the Mrs the new winch. lol
Eitherway, it was an easier and safer option to winch here and I'm sure the fella was greatfull even if he was recovered on Pink Rope.
