NSW: Saturday January 14th Wheeny Creek/Gees Arm South Rock Crawl

Heading to the Colo region to tackle the "Wheeny creek" / "Gee Arms South" rock crawl track so spitfireslw can try out his new winch This is a one way in, one way out rock stepping adventure for hardcore drivers only. We probably won't make it to the end due to the late start.

REQUIREMENTS: Lift, upgraded AT/MT tyres and at least one locker or a winch.

well after losing the patrol at the start due to too many problems. Glen and myself headed off and had some great fun in the prados. Well i didn't end up using the winch at all due to some good lines and some well placed rocks and some good guiding (Cheers glen) and of course great traction control. No chicken tracks were used heading out their and it was mostly medium to hard lines. The weather held out for us and the track was mostly dry. All up a great drive and about 3.5 hours and we made it to the end and back with no problems. Pics and vids to come

When the GU decided to have more throttle and fuel issues, we continued down the start of the track and both took the easy way in:



First decent rock steps:

On this step the 150 came extremely close but did not touch (a 120 will definitely touch).



Trying some larger steps that we usually avoid:



Unfortunately there was significant sub tank and side step contact here for the 150, so after a few attempts an easier route was necessary.

Going up one of the steep sections.. the 150 done it quite easily!

This is one of my favourite sections. Lots of steps all over the place! But it did proove to be a little challenge for the 150's traction control (the wheel rotation was quite inconsistent).



It took several attempts with slightly different lines and Steven made it in the end!



The big step which follows immediately after.. Steven drove the 150 up this VERY easily:

There was a fairly long/easy drive after that, before we came across the next obstacles. I don't have any footage of them, on the way in, but they definitely required more attention and precise maneuvering than the previous sections. I had some clearance difficulties on one before retiring to an easier line, and a couple sections had off camber angles which kept the adrenalin pumping!

Eventually, and amazingly, we arrived at the end of the track and enjoyed the view:
