Hi all,
Steve Barbuto is organising an easy day out for Perth Prado owners to get together. Sorry bout the late notice, as it's on this Sunday (19th Feb). All Prados welcome.
Details from Steve's message on the LCOOL site below:
We're heading to the Perth hills to "do the Powerline Track". We'll meet at the Caltex at the bottom of Greenmount with a view to heading off at 10am, so if you want to get in early to chew the fat maybe land at 9:30 or so. I'll nominate channel 18 UHF now, so if you're running late you may be able to catch us up.
I don't want to dictate where we go and am open to suggestions, but I thought that starting off on Flynn road, turning left onto the powerline, and then heading through to West Talbot Road would be a plan. It's the standard route, but if anyone has a more interesting plan I am 100% there.
I've got plenty of recovery gear and contingency management equipment, but we're in Prado's so it's more for if we find some busted up and bogged LandRovers blocking the track. There'll be room in my fridge if you'd rather leave the esky at home. It'd be nice if you had a UHF radio... but if you don't, I have three totally crap handhelds available on a first served
basis. They take AAA batteries ;-)
Leave all the 4WD Club formalities in the garage... we're going to have a good social day without all of that tedium. That said, if there's any rednecking, my usually high level of patience will be immediately exhausted. We will "Tread Lightly" without exception. If that's being miserable don't come!
Don't worry if your experience is low... whilst there is some moderately tricky stuff there's always another way around. Whilst it is a social day for me I don't mind coaching, possibly as will many of the experienced people I hope will be there.
The only thing I haven't worked out is if we will barbeque lunch. Let me know your thoughts on that as I am happy to brown bag it like a day at work.
Cheers,
Steve.
