Certainly looks very muddy Brett. Do you have a track log of where you went as a matter of interest

My friend with the Patrol logged all the tracks we drove on that day with his GPS. We want to keep going back until we've done just about every track out there... Another 5 or 6 day trips should do it I reckon!

We are keen to see Little & Big Red.... Not to drive them of course because that'd be silly to even consider it in our cars, but to have a look..... And hopefully watch someone younger than me and invincible have a crack. Also, where are those really steep tracks that Roothy and Glen Hadden did in one of their 4wd Action DVD's. Keen to have a look at those. I guess we'll find them one day if we keep going back out there and don't do the tracks we've already logged on the GPS.

little and big reds quite easy to find, you just keep following the main road onto gravel until you see the bush carpark on the left under the power lines, straight across from this is where they are, tracks all along those power lines that undulate up and down the hills with full canopy style thin 4wd channels cut into them, every weekend there,s tonnes of different people out there in that middle section, big reds hard enough on the bike, don't reckon taking my prado up it would be anything other than costly lol.

Although ill have a hunt around in my vids, got some footage of a stock 90 series prado that went up it with the help of about 5 blokes, was a good run.

          cheers

That would've been good to see. I've seen vids and pics of a few Patrols get one wheel high up in the air half way up and then roll over onto their side on big red. They then had to be winched up to the top while on their side before they could right the vehicle. Patrols have broken rear lower control arms by going too hard on that hill too. I used to work with a bloke who had a GU Patrol ute with a $30,000 twin turbo diesel engine in it which produced over 300hp at the wheels, 7 inch lift, 37 inch tyres, double diff locked, and he did a bit of damage out there and on little red and big red a few years ago. His tray was trimmed with overhang over the rear wheels and as a result he snapped off his rear lights which hung underneath the tray, put a huge dent in the passenger door and broke a side mirror when his car slid into a bank on its side from the car slipping into a deep rut on the L.H.S. He did some other damage during the same trip but I can't remember what it was. But this guy was a bit of a hard core 4wder who was regularly doing panel beating after trips out. He was loaded to the teeth with money and doing regular damage didn't stress him out any. He competed in comps occasionally too but never won anything I don't think.

You can try them downhill as opposed to uphill I went down with Stewy in the FGay and that was pretty technical, a spotter is required. Prados with a 2" lift and bash plates can do it. It would be a good day for people that are looking for something difficult to have go.

Can anyone point me to Big red / Little red from the intersection of Connection Road and Glasshouse Woodford road just up from the fire lookout?
Maybe a pin on google maps would be best.

Robert, the only way I know to find them is to drive there That Glasshouse clay is a unique surface, however the clay we are likely to see on the Bellthorpe drive this weekend is not far behind it.

                    Hey guys,
I did this trip on Sunday (17/3/13) and this is the second time I have done it this year. It was a lot more chopped up and rutted from the recent heavy rainfalls we have had, but certainly 'doable'. I did this trip as a tour straight out of the Dirty Week-ends in SE QLd book, but now know enough to make a couple of slight alterations to the book instructions for a bit more challenging fun.
I went with a mate who drove his 2011 Mitsu Challenger and my 2004 Prado certainly showed the Mitsu how it's done!
Great day - and it can be a whole day if you space it out well and throw in a couple of hours for lunch and fishing at Coochin Creek.
Pics to follow - especially of the two groups of teenagers we came across who tried doing this in their Volvo.... sedan
