I have been itching to tackle the Ormeau track for sometime now Since seeing the SE Qld Crews Dec 4 trip report and the opportunity arose last weekend with a family get together and my 2 brother in laws wanting to head down for a look see. So there was just the 3 cars. Shane and his mate in his 100 series and David and his Son Brodie in a stock 90 series who is trying to get his 100hrs up on his L's. And what a way to get those hours up!! We had a great afternoon with the help of some info from Richo on where to head. I later found some old track reports from the SE Qld Crew, some dating back to June 2009 posted up by Snaga. Ormeau Trip report June 2009
We pretty much followed the same trip report as the Ormeau Dec 4 2011 trip report and aired down at the Water Resevoir at the top of Vennor Rd.
About 800m in the fun begins with the Very Rocky ascent
Taking a wrong turn we headed East and came across a very ugly Descent that would not be safely done by us three ducks. The track was heavily rutted from the Summer rains and this is now (IMO) a lockers and 35's ascent. As always, pics really don't do it justice, the ruts were 300 - 600 deep and same again in width.
There were bits of car parts along the side of the track in the stretch that we saw.
Heading back on the track and heading South from here we tackled some technical descents. the first with an interesting Jumpup with a large bog hole in front of it and then a lot of Ruts to negotiate
