  • NSW: Saturday 31st of March Newnes SF ** SHORT NOTICE **

We're going to Newnes to explore some easy/medium tracks. I'm not too sure where we'll go. Maybe we can convince Glenn to lead us down the Beecroft fire trail.

Please read the following disclaimer if you wish to participate on this trip. If you choose not to accept the terms & conditions therein, you are requested not to attend.
    http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...claimer-Notice

    Track Difficulty:
The tracks we'll be doing are pretty easy for a new driver. There's often a bit of mud and dust at Newnes so there's normally a bit cleaning to do afterwards. There is optional moderate/hardcore stuff too for those that want it. Stock 90's and 150's are fine but 120's are a bit low in stock form, so expect scraping if you're bringing a 120 without a lift.

    Weather:
The forecast is looking pretty good at the moment. Temps between 9°C and 22°C

Meeting at: McDonalds at Richmond, cnr of March & Eastmarket Sts. at 8:30am, departing around 8:45 am http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&bi ... CBoQnwIwAA

Finishing time is flexible; if you want to leave early it won't be a problem (but you may need to navigate your own way out). We usually finish around 4 or 5pm.

Bring: Prado, morning tea, lunch, water/drinks, camera, air compressor/recovery gear if you have it, sense of adventure.

    UHF channel 28

Hmm haven't been down Beecroft for a long time; wonder how churned up it is now? We'll have a look

    See you tomorrow.

We had a good day at Newnes today; perfect weather & it got a bit warm as the day went on. Very busy with lots of other vehicles & at one point it was like Pitt St at the wombat holes

I think Stephanie had a great time with guidance from Declan & she traversed the tracks very well without any major mishaps

Only took a few photos, videos will be up in the next day or so.

      Cheers,
      Glenn

Thanks for leading again Glenn. The Beecroft fire trail was well worth it. Now that Stephanie has a taste for the rocky stuff she's determined to get herself a 4.5 Petrol 105 series and already has her mods planned out!

I didn't get any photos from the day but I managed to get a few happy snaps from the video files I took.

First stop was the detour through Happy Valley.

We continued to the lower wombat holes where we met a queue with dozens of 4bys waiting for their turn.

My first run required the rear locker because a log that some brainiac left on the track caused the front wheels to lose all traction.

Glenn, as always, had no trouble getting through. After Glenn's run, I removed the log on track and went back for another run and managed it with out the locker.

Next we stopped at the diff breakers. Glenn made short work of it.

The 80 went through twice, once driven by Steph with the locker engaged, and then I drove through to prove it could be without the locker.

We then headed for the beecroft fire trail. The track was very over grown in some parts. There didn't seem to have been many vehicles through there recently.

The locker certainly made picking lines a lot easier for Stephanie when climbing back up the fire trail.

It was a great day and I think Stephanie learned a thing or two about picking lines and the general operation of the 4wd systems.

                            Thanks for the vids Glenn
I like the look of that last track, nice and rocky, does it have a name?
Also, what have you changed with your video setup? It's doing strange things, some kind of motion stabiliser?

Hi Glen, it's Beecroft Fire Trail. We found it several years ago when exploring that area.

Yep I'm glad you said it's strange re the video. When I uploaded to youtube this pop up box appeared & said something like "Your video seems to be shaky & we can fix it" so I agreed & this is the result. Looks rather jelly like hey. Very weird.

I'm very tempted to redo the uploads all over again & leave the shaky stuff in

Thanks to Youtube for the useless input! And for removing the Bullitt car chase scene too
                              Cheers,
                              Glenn
