I had been planning on spending a few days over Easter exploring Mount Moffat national park, probably from around the 9th-11th or 12th of April. Looks like most of Mount Moffat is closed at the moment from all the rain so I'll scratch that idea.
Blackdown Tablelands was another option, but it too is closed, or at least the camping area is at the moment.
Eungella is my backup plan, still a fair few places to explore up there, although a couple of tracks there are closed as well, there should be enough open ones to keep me amused. I didn't want to spend my time at Eungella though as it is fairly close to home and better saved for shorter breaks.
Kroombit Tops is another one that would have been good to visit, but apparently it's closed "for feral animal control" until the 27th of April.
So, what's left? Head further south to Goodnight Scrub maybe, not much to see there really although plenty of chances to become geographically embarrassed. Head North to somewhere like Undarra or Chilagoe. Or head West, conquer Big Red and come home.
Anybody have any ideas? Just want somewhere reasonable quiet where I can kick back for a few days, do a few short - medium bushwalks and maybe a little 4wding. Don't mind travelling a bit to get there.
Cheers,
Dave.
