  • Double Island Point with Maxtrax (Trip Report)

Got a last minute call (txt) from Brad from Maxtrax saying they were heading to DI Point last Saturday so packed the playdoh and made an early start to meet up at the usual BP northbound...

The main aim of the day was to PLAY

He wanted to get the WWII Jeep out again so it was loaded up onto the Maxtrax cruiser's trailer and towed it to the beach.

Here's my moment in the hot seat.

20k's up the beach to the headland and I was having a blast.
3 gears, upside down on the floor and left hand drive!! Oh, and the brakes take a little convincing to work... they're better than they used to be apparently

Here's most of the gang... Brad was behind the camera (His pic)

    Cheers, Leon

We left Brad and the gang about 1:00pm and headed back via Freshwater track and then planned on going south via the Cooloola Way but the rd was signed as closed even though the conditions report said it was open so we then back tracked and headed back onto the beach via Kings Bore track.

I'll post a couple of pics of that section tomorrow.
      Cheers, Leon

Looks like a top day out mate. That jeep hasn't had an easy life... assuming it's the same one that visited the Cape. Unstoppable!

Matt, it was lovingly restored before Brad got a hold of it Mind you he was talking of restoring it again but would mean losing a lot of the original body work
                Cheers, Leon

Yep, those are the camo maxtrax.

From memory they are $150 -$200 dearer than the standard price... and that's just passing on the cost of the print, oh and it's the official military camo so he's paid a licence fee to use it.

Leon there is a diversion into the forestry tracks that come out a few km's down the road further south, not a bad little forestry run that will link you back onto the Cooloola way below the area where all the water and mud spots are.
