    Not Good!!!
I believe this was sustained by falling into a badly washed out boghole that the car bashed against on the exiting in a hurry.
This is most likely too much for a touch up guy to clean up. There are also some deep scratches on the flare over the door so me thinks it will be an insurance job. ($500 excess - Buggar!!!)
And no, there's not a chance in hell I would be allowed a rear wheel carrier I would say that if I'd had one of these rear carriers, I would be up for a respray here anyway as it is the wifes daily drive.
    Craig,
Buggar dont you hate that. BTW I recently use a spraypainter at seventeen mile rocks on one of our prevous cars to respray a bumper and they did a great job for the price.
PM if you want me to dig out the details.
    Cheers
    Robert

Jeez Craig a little bit of damage there, all superficial though.
That sort of damage will always look worse on dark coloured paint.
Unfortunately the rear end on the 120 is the models biggest downfall.
Hope to see ya out on the trails again soon.

            Cheers

              How did the TG150 go?
i agree. I put pinstripes from window to door sill the month i bought it (oct last year) and now you can hardly see them. Scratches are just part of 4wding. As much as i want to sell my 120 for a shit box to bush bash i'd rather just put up with it.

Yep all repaired now Stewy. Following the Pine Creek trip and the scrapes I encountered, in particular due to the lack of departure angle, I've been thinking about some form of rear protection for the underside of the rear bumper. I remember seeing on the rear of a Paj, a (approx) 10mm flat bar that ran along the full width of the underside of the rear bumper that acted as a form of a skid. This was attached to the rear chassis and was only approx 10 - 15mm lower than the bumper. I will be investigating this further as to what can be done...
Hope to get out again on the track shortly, so will see you soon I'm sure!

                Regards

Another thought I had a while back was to have the bottom section of rear bumper vinyl wrapped to prevent future scrapes and scratches.

                  cheers

Sounds the go for light scrapes. But I'm more concerned about drop offs and the like that tend to bend or tear the rear bumpers. need to find a balance though because you dont want to get hung up on it either...

You could try something like panel protect - http://www.panelprotect.com.au Going to put this on my Prado once I get around to washing & polishing it.

(It is my fathers business, but not wanting to "push it" too much)

                        Hi Dan,

That sounded promising so I went to the website for more info. It seems kind of expensive, so I just want to check I understand this.

If I were to protect both sides of the Prado, I would need around 15m-20m. The pricing suggests that would cost me around $320/20m and this would be good for a few trips worth of protection. To put this in perspective, I had my 4 years of light scratches cut-n-polished so it looked like new, and that cost me $120-$130 per side.

I'm not meaning to cast doubt on the product, I just want to be sure I understand it's applicability.

For a Prado, only a 10m roll would be required. We did the old man's 80 Series with about 8.5m. The roll is just over 90cm wide, and is aimed to cover from the bottom of your doors to under your windows. This should be more than easy enough on a Prado. I know Dad checked the width on a 200 Series as they had the biggest panels, and it worked ok.

A $10m roll is $80 delivered to your door.

I don't want to take away from the original thread, so I should contact a mod about where to put a seperate thread to answer your questions.

                          Cheers,
                          Dan
