It was 4pm at this stage, so we took the easy way out and headed home.

Thanks for joining me fellas - it was a fantastic day and everyone done VERY well on what I'd consider a difficult track.

Great pics. Really bummed I didnt make it now, conditions looked perfect. It sure is a great place for 4wding.

We found a really nice camp site, I will ask my sister and see if she can remember where it was. It was near one of the creeks, but I can't remember where exactly it was. It was flat and big, we had six tents set up.

Good spotting there Max, and lucky to find it now rather then later, on our next trip!

Looks like a good track Glen; how long did it take to get there from your place?
                  Cheers,

Hey Glenn, yeah that's the bad part... If you include the dirt roads (ie, navigating straight to the Dam, or straight to the start of a decent track), then it's a solid 3 hours from the M7/M4 junction. Most of the day I felt like it's just too far to go when some of us have similiar stuff closer to home, but by the end of Monkey Gum I was exceptionly happy to have been there.

Looks like Monkey Gum has got a lot worse than when I last did it about three years ago.

Oh what the hell, here's a couple more pics...

Max's newly positioned side steps.. I think this was from a log in the muddy section (on video two):

It was my first time there but I'm not surprised that it's getting worse. There's no water bars on the track so the rocks would be getting washed out and ruts are getting massive, especially near the bottom.

I was the one who went through there in my 90 stock with crap tyres and the only place i got stuck looks like the same place the 80 diffed out, i was stuck on the bash plate, but it was muddy and i was able to go around it.

Its awesome to see all these pics of modified trucks going where I went stock. I would like to go back again.

My brother lives minutes away from Yalwal and has found some more tracks like Monkey Gum and better.

Haha, having seen the track now I have no doubt that a stocker could et up it, but it'd definitely need to take different lines than some of the ones I took!

From what I've read there's quite a few hardcore tracks starting from Wombat Flats. There's also Six Stager, but we didn't have enough time to peek at it.
