Cairns Tracks/ Places to see

Mate the track through Cape Trib is just a dirt road these days but its still a better drive than the inland route to Cooktown/ Lion Den.

Yeah I was just reading in one of the CY books that the hill climb stuff is also concreted or sealed so no real challenge....

Here's one of the best places near Cairns for a look, Blenco Falls. Access through Mount Garnet only, gate on the Kirrima Range Road.

Thanks Snowy, might have a look down that way when we move on to the Rain forest retreat south of Malanda. How is the track out there is it an easy dirt road drive or a bit of a fun 4WD track?

A subaru would get you there no worries. From Mt Garnet a few kms of bitumen, then a good (Gunnawarra Road is the turn off from the H'way at Mt Garnet)dirt road to the Cashmere Crossing (causeway crossing over the Herbert River), doubt you will even wet your tyres now. Good dirt road from there past Goshen Station, thats where they did Survivor TV show. Beautiful scenery, great camping, the gorge and falls is magnificent. When you get there you will want to stay, so take the camping gear. A real shame the Kirrima Range Road is closed, but I hear they are working on it. Take note of the fuel price at Mount Garnet too, last time I was there it was cheaper than Cairns. Cheers
