  • Info wanted - Booloumba Creek campground QLD

I am doing a little research on Blooloumba creek in the Kenilworth area west of the Sunshine coast. We are looking to stay there on the Australia day long weekend in January.

Has anyone been there? Was it any good? Mozzies, facilities?

We are lookinq at Booloumba creek campground 3. There is great info on the net but it is always better to hear from personal experiences.

    Thanks.

    Hi there
I have stayed at Booloomba a couple of times and it has been very nice. We usually stay at campground 1, site 11, very large site on the edge of the creek. Not far from the toilets and showers. No hot water shower when I stayed there. The creek is a little empty but still some water flowing there. A couple of nice swimming holes, a nice one about 50 metres from site 11 and a really big one probably the nicer of the bunch at campground area 3. It tends to get quite packed in the warmer weather. There are fire pits there and a little bit of wood if your lucky but wise to bring your own as it is usually slim pickings. Easy road into the campgrounds, one small creek crossing enough to wet the tires. We usually go up in the colder weather so bugs haven't been an issue at that time. Not sure what they would be like now, nothing that a smoky fire and a bit of bug spray wouldn't fix. It is a family friendly camp area with a few open grassy patches to play and some more private campsites if that is what your after. It tends to book out on long weekends and school holidays so make a booking early if you can. It is a nice drive up there through Maleny, great scenery. A few nice hiking tracks around and a couple of tracks for 4wd's. Below is the link to the campground 1 map and below that is a pick of site 11 that I took. Enjoy. KMK

      Thanks KMK

Looks perfect, just what we are after. We have booked site 14 at Booloumba campground number 3 for the Sat and sun nights of the Australia long weekend. I dont think we will get much offroad action on this trip but we are travelling with a Territory 2WD.

Needless to say this will be the first outing in the new Prado. It is due for delivery late Dec or early Jan.

        Booloumba

No worries hoppy50, have good time up there. Beautiful country. A few decent wineries in the Maleny and Montville area before getting to Booloumba to re-stock. Hopefully your new prado arrives quickly. KMK
