Well Aaron must still be at Touch Footy (did you make it back in time mate?) so I thought I'd kick off the update.

Just the three of us, Aaron in the 150 D4D, my 120 D4D and Dave the Viking in his Petrol (how many killawasps Richo?) 120.

The crossings started interestingly enough, we stopped at the first crossing beside a bunch of bikes and waited for a couple of their mates on the other side to come across, only to have the first guy lose it and lay what seemed to be quite a nice bike down into the middle of the stream. OUCH! The water was cold too, be nice riding around with a set of soaked leathers, I don't think.

At the other end on the last crossing, there was a Maloo Ute just up the slope, obviously been wet too. What were they thinking?

Anyway, if you've lost a number plate on the crossings lately, it might be hanging here on this gate:

          Aaron and Dave cruise across:

Someone always has to get dirty:

Another great day out, can't wait for another.

          Cheers,

          Dave

What a great day to be driving your Prado through rivers and in mud!!

Emma and myself arrived out at Boonah for the start of the day after some breakie at Springfield Lakes Macca's ready for a great day and to see who would join us. Not long later Dave (Fozzy) and David (The Viking) soon joined and we were off in convoy not long after. Trying to ready the Dirty Weekends directs got the better of us as we missed the first turn off and headed for the alternate route. I will put my hand up for that error as Emma thought I would do a better job a navigator and she drove.

Back on the correct road we drove up to the look out over to a waterfall which I can't remember the name of on Head Rd as the temperature dropped very quickly to 11. As we jumped in the Prado's a decision was made that we divert again from the DW guide and headed straight to Condamine River Rd. We came up to First Crossing. After the decision was made by everyone wearing pants that Dave should walk the crossing as he was in shorts was made, we were informed by a group of bike riders that it was ok to cross and we headed over first. Then two other riders with the group were about to attempt to cross back over the river when things went a little pear shaped when a almost brand new, not anymore, Kawasaki went over in the drink right on top of the rider. I think it may have stopped in time to not fill up and do too much damage other then his ego. But then it was crushed when lifting the bike up it fell on him once again. But as there was still 13 crossing to go, we headed off once again.

After a few more crossing, the track became a little muddy and David the Viking was in his element taking his Prado on a voyage to all mud puddle that he could see and there was nothing that was going to stop him....

At the last crossing we came across a Holden Commodore Ute which did look like it got a bike thirsty and had a big drink. Asking if they needed a had we were waved along saying that they did not need any help and they were waiting for a mate so we kept on going.

After missing the turn again, everyone chucked a u bolt and we were headed in the right direction to stop at Browns Falls Picnic area which was lovely. Emma was very impressed in the back door table that Dave has installed on his car as she leaned in getting muck on her pants. When lunch was done we headed up the mountain to have a quick look at Queen Mary Falls but the urge to head back down to Condamine River Road to have a second go at the crossing was to strong and we were back on the road.

Just after we hit the dirt road again we saw our friends in the Commodore ute being towed by a angry looking father in an BMW X5 who I think must have just gotten there from Brisbane. Think someone will be in the bad books for a while.

Second time round was just as good as the first time but knowing how deep some of the ruts were, Emma and I had a little bit of a play and got a bit of mud on the side. As with all good things it had to end and we crossed First Crossing and headed for the bitumen and stopped to air the tires back up.

With all Prado's in the same condition as they left home in the morning, just a little dirtier, it was sad to say that the fun was coming to an end and we headed back to Brisbane.

Thank you Dave and David for a great day and we can't wait to head back out that way again soon. Below are a few pics from the day.

Great report. Looks like the Great South East turned the weather on too!! Obviously wasn't too great for a Maloo ute owner and Kawasaki rider though...
Which way did you travel home Aaron? did you continue with the trip notes that brought you out past maroon Dam? It's a beaut drive through there in the afternoon. And you'll have to head back up to the QM falls following the road as per DW notes as there is some stunning views on the way up there...(especially on a clear day like it was today!) here's a couple of pics from our last trip...

As I had a touch footy game at 5 we just headed back through Boonah back to Brisbane. Will Be heading back that way for sure in the not too distant future to have another look around and see the rest of that trip
