  • Vic - Dargo - Future trip idea.

    Hi All,

Been looking through a few of the 4b magazines today and have just come to the realization that I have not visited some of the best areas / tracks in the high country. I have spent allot of time around Rawson / Walhalla / Woodspoint and howqua hills, but I have missed out on the great area above (and around) Dargo.

So I am thinking down the track (once they open) of doing a 2 - 3 day explore in the area with a "camp wherever we stop" (swag / tent / whatever) mentality.

I have been looking through the maps, watched a couple of youtube video's and reviewed my 4wd mag collection, I want to start noting down the tracks & P.O.I's worth visiting, it would be great if people could add any suggestions.

    List So far

    1. Billy Goat Bluff Track.
    2. Blue Rag Range
    3. Grant Historic Mining Area
    4. Cynthia Range Track
    5. South Basalt Knob Track - (Thanks AJ120)
    6. Mt Sarah (Thanks Adrian)
    7. Talbotville - Possible Base Camp (Thanks Maxjj)

They are in no order / route as yet, just want to get then down to help with planning later.

Love the Vic High Country area.

    Thanks.

    Bernie.

Add South Basalt knob track to the list if you like a challenge!

Loads of good camp spots around Dargo and the pub does awesome food!

      Cheers Andrew

Talbotville might make a good spot for a base camp. Crooked River and The Good hope mine and Wonnagatta Valley are in easy exploring distance.

I have spent a fair bit of time up in the high country.

From memory, the track up and over Mt Sarah was fun as it was very steep and loose.

Depending on dates, may be free to go along.

                Cheers

Photos and videos never do any justice but when your driving and all you see is sky and being pushed back in your seat you know it's damn steep, by the way great looking rig

                    Thanks Guy's.

Appreciate the feedback, looking obviously after 1st November for a date (tracks opening). Don't want to be to close to the end of the year, so at this stage 1st or 2nd week of November is looking the goods.

                    Let see what Plays out...

                            Hi Kav,

It's really a planning session since the tracks are closed till November (around 2nd November), so looking at 2nd week of november at this stage as the tracks will be definitively open by then and their will be less people around.

Am going to try and get some "official" trip notice /EOI out in the coming weeks. Flexibility is the Key!

                            bernie.
