NSW: Sat/Sunday June 23/24th Mt Walker camp (report only)

After the 14 strong Newnes run on Saturday, a few of us headed over to Lidsdale SF/Marangaroo NP for a night's camp.

Here's a couple shots from the campsite in the morning:



The frost came really early, it covered our cars the night before whilst we cooked dinner!! Even our empty beer bottles were covered in frost as the night went on

was a cracker camp spot we had for the night, weather was cool but thank god the wind didnt pick up

After Samo and Ryan left in the morning, I just couldn't resist heading to Mt Walker!! It wasn't quite as wet as last time, so with a few attempts the 90 made it using both lockers.

After that I headed towards Lake Lyall:



And explored a track on the southern side along Lake Lyall. There were some great hill climbs but unfortunately some very slippery mud holes halted my lone progress:

From there I explored the powerline track and came across the Landrover club on an official day trip. After multiple vehicle recoveries on a single climb I got a little bored, and moved on...

After enjoying a few Cox's river crossings I headed back up to Mt Walker to join up with some fellas I met earlier in the day... and that's when the day got really interesting!

A shame I didn't get any shots of the Landrovers. Actually, something I forgot to mention... I came across the again in the afternoon. They asked for a hand to balance out one of their Defenders It was on a cross-camber track, leaning over enough that it was stuck against a tree. Great vehicles but a bit too tall. :S

Thanks again for the guided tour Glen it was truly a beautiful camping spot.

Dammit Samo why did we have to leave so early............... (I know the answer being because our respective partners would probably be leaving if we didnt) but it looks like an awesome climb and I know at least both of us will be back in the near future....... stay tuned.........
PS Glen: as for my unwanted passenger in the drivers side rear, the step had to come off for the stick to come out it almost looked like when Samo was attached to our fire wood ..... on a smaller scale of course .
