Rags, thats a great story. Wasted an hour of my morning reading it all.
Kinda puts things into perspective about dirt tracks...
    Love the tractor thing.

Yes it is a good reminder of how things can change quickly. I am working doing the springs soon ,with a couple of mates of mine we have regular Tuesday night shed nights and it is on the to do list, along with the snorkle fit. In saying that i would still go out there and give it a crack ,as i have lead a trip thru there before that had 15 cars [to many] and some of those where stock, would just stay away from beafsteak ck area, the main area when last there with one other car we got into a bit of a bog rutted area.
I would be interested in a trip but it is getting hard from now on till xmas to get a free weekend, although a day trip for me is easy as i am only 40mins from GWH Hartley turnoff. I maybe planning an overnighter this sunday night with the daughters BF if he gets off base and plans fall into place so may even sneak out there then . If you post or PM me with possible dates i will see if i am free.
      cheers Russ

Anyone up for this little trip?
Bean meaning to do it for ages but keep being distracted.

Planning for either weekend 24/25th may or 31/1 June.
Might be a day trip or a weekend depending on what we do or don't find etc etc. Several camping areas out that way.

        So far we have a 90 and a 100.

          Hey Malcom,

I've been to the area this year with a guy from 4x4earth. The tracks you've marked on the earlier post looks correct, and those tracks are actually quite easy. We drove the same way in wet weather, and I would have no apprehension about driving those again, even by myself.

The problem is when you divert from the main road and venture down one of the valleys. An example is Beef Steak Creek (towards the Jenolan end of your trip). Despite it's appearance to be an easy and well managed road, it's VERY slippery when wet. I made that mistake but luckily my brand new muddies, dual lockers and momentum got me out - JUST! To say I was sliding is an understatement...

PS: I probably can't make it due to car repairs and some other plans, but I'll keep it in mind in case the situation changes. Thanks!
