What happened there? snapped a spring and flipped on a bump?

Well if we end up buying a trailer between now and the trip we will bring it along. Thanks for the feed back guys. I will hopefully have the power issues sorted by this anyway. Its going for a little holiday to tamworth diesel care shortly...

That guy with the trailer was just in front of us .
It was the spring it snapped at the hanger then dug straight into the ground and flipped .
We came along and helped him pick all the bits up and put it on a truck .

Hey what year did you head up to the cape. I believe we saw a similar trailer broken down just out side of Bramwell Junction.

2011 was when we were up there.

We saw 2 major accidents one was the camper trailer and the second was a truck and car head on at Archer River.

On my first trip to the Cape I took a homemade 4x4 trailer I made from the ground up. Trailer never missed a beat but didn't put any thought into the hitch. Half way up the 12mm tongue snapped and flipped the trailer with 4 x 20L drums of diesel, rifles and sleeping gear. Nothing damaged inside, not a drop of fuel spilt, couldn't believe it. Canopy bars got bent and the non-tear tarp got a 10mm cut. A small tour bus come past and we all flipped it back over, swapped the tongue off another car travelling with us and finished the trip without another hitch (excuse the pun lol). How’s that for luck and a well-built trailer if I may say so myself. Promised myself I would never take another trailer. Did the trip again in 92 with a Toyota 4 Runner Diesel without a trailer and was easier. Now with such capable vehicles and trailers made for trips like the cape I would reconsider taking one if I brought the family.

Here are some really old photos.

We are planning a run over the east coast about the time proposed heading across the centre and across to Qld before heading down and across back to WA. We have been chatting about the Cape and that we should do it while we're there....

Put us down at this stage, subject to final planned dates

                          Cheers

What do you all think about taking my jayco swan outback? Not to sure if it will handle all the rough stuff like gunshot.
