I wouldn't take a Jayco up the Tele Track. Its width is going to cause issue (read damage) and ramp over and departure will also cause hassle. I forget where exactly but on the northern half there are some very tight turns that are a challenge with a trailer, a long trailer is going to be a bigger issue.

I think taking it to the Cape via the development road would be fine, but forget the tele track or frenchmans.

      Cheers Andrew

What a great youtube video, He did it tough but got through. I dont think I could punish my jayco like that. I dont belive the jayco is built that tough and would fall apart.

Things change all the time up the Cape; but this is how we got our trailer around a tight bend through Gunshot on the chicken track when we were up there.

          Cheers Andrew

We towed a Jayco Outback Swan to the Cape in 2006. Didn't take the rough line but it handled the main road no worries. Got to drive it through a couple of deepish creek crossings with no issues. This was behind our 98 V6 Prado which proved a bit thirsty.

Like Andrew said some tight turns and it does get a bit tight on some parts of the tele track .
Some people will try with the wrong trailer

                        • G'day, pencil me in too please. I have just bought my 2005 Prado, she is a V6 4lt petrol, only has a bull bar, roof racks, AT's and trailer brakes at the moment, but should have a few mod's done by the time the trip comes around. Looking at getting an auto locker for the rear diff and a snorkel, plus mabe a 2 inch lift later on.
I should be just about retired by next year so I'm looking foreward to doing some exploring.
Great site , and Cheers to all. Ian.

                          • Hi All,

Can you also Pencil me in as well - 1 x Prado 120 + Tvan with Extended Drawbar.

Do we need Front Lockers as well? or just Rear ones?

Most of the requirments will be fiited, prior to the Simpson Desert Trip 2013.

Will just need to change tyres to Cooper ST MAXX or STT depending on weather conditions and fit Diff / Transmssion breathers
