We have Simpson trip in 2 months.
And 214 gtg in April next year.
Going to need more trips in between!

Should this thread be, under 2014 gtg?
Mods can you please put it back under trips?

On my first trip to the Cape I took a homemade 4x4 trailer I made from the ground up. Trailer never missed a beat but didn't put any thought into the hitch. Half way up the 12mm tongue snapped and flipped the trailer with 4 x 20L drums of diesel, rifles and sleeping gear. Nothing damaged inside, not a drop of fuel spilt, couldn't believe it. Canopy bars got bent and the non-tear tarp got a 10mm cut. A small tour bus come past and we all flipped it back over, swapped the tongue off another car travelling with us and finished the trip without another hitch (excuse the pun lol). How’s that for luck and a well-built trailer if I may say so myself. Promised myself I would never take another trailer. Did the trip again in 92 with a Toyota 4 Runner Diesel without a trailer and was easier. Now with such capable vehicles and trailers made for trips like the cape I would reconsider taking one if I brought the family.

Hey all

Can you put my name down on this please? It'll be myself and an 8YO son with possibility for an 11YO daughter. We'd be swagging it from Adelaide. Would probably look to chain together a few super long days driving to cut down on the trip there / back so make the most of the time up there.

Myswag has around 30 cars last year do the cape and they managed somehow . If everyone on the list comes we may have to be cosy at the camps but no limit yet .

I've been chatting to the wife about this and we are a "maybe" at this stage.

Will depend on a few things.. ie: if we can get bub looked after while we are away.
I don't think this trip would be a hit with an 18 month old :/

Big decision, our daughter was 2 last time we went to the Cape and she loved it .

Our daughter will be having her 2nd birthday up there will you lot! I dont think we will be doing many high km days to be honest.
