Did anyone who went to the Cape this year camp at Loyalty Beach and how did you find it?

We stayed there in middle May, actually we were stranded there as we drowned our Prado at Nolans (2nd drowning for the year). The staff were great and looked after us. There are some great camp spots in shaded areas, we will be going back to Loyalty again when up there again, this time with a Prado still going.

Loyalty was great back in 2008,
Clean and friendly.

Stayed there in August this year on our Cape trip (outside of school holidays).

Pretty crowded in the main area but we chose a new area (with the toilets and showers still under construction) which was much quieter....plenty of room down there but no green grass (which did exist up in the main area)

Friendly people and can I really reccomend the restaurant...we decided for our last night in the north before heading home to have a meal out....we got a table on the beach, watched a magnificent sunset, were served by lovely backpackers and it was nice to have a meal cooked for us for a change.

The menu was limited, and you could not say it was "5 star", but the prices were very reasonable.

Spoke to others who were staying at Seisa Caravan park, and we certainly had the better of the options at Bamaga.....there's also Punsand Bay (at the tip), but as we were doing Thursday Island staying near Seisa was a must.

All in all a great spot!!

On top of what Mark said, i stayed at Punsand Bay in 2004, just before it was sold, great place then, this year when Helga and me rattled our way there in a rental troopy i wanted to show her this place , big disapointment, it looked like the upkeep wasn't there, it was not like back in 04 when it was tidier, and better set up for camps.

We stayed at the Seisa Caravan park when we went to the tip a few years ago, pretty average would be a generous description. Loyalty beach seems to have a much better reputation, definately there or Punsand bay next time we trip to the tip.

We stayed at the Seisia Caravan Park and had a beach front spot with a great view and we liked it. We could sit in our camp site with the chairs facing the water during the late afternoon and night. If you didn't get a waterfront spot or required a powered site then I can imagine it'd be pretty crap because you're then camped further back in the grounds with no view and with 50 other campers all around you in close proximity. We were lucky I guess. Our service was very helpful upon arrival we found. We were ushered to our spot by the owner on his quad which we didn't expect. But we certainly didn't expect 5 star accommodation when we embarked on our trip so I guess because of that we didn't get disappointed by anything. Camping's camping.....

If you want Beach / Ocean views then Loyalty has them in abundance...that whole new area I mention would allow you to camp right on the beach, just back a tad on a raised area (still with a view), or at the back closer to the amenities (which were to be finished by the end of this season) and you'd still get some views. The main area has the older amenities block and is all grassed (which is why it's popular)....they were watering the area where we camped in an attempt to grow the grass so I imagine in years to come this will be a nice big grassed area as well.

We had some friends stay at Seisa the previous year, and reccomended we went to Loyalty.......I can't comment on Punsand Bay other than to say it's certainly in a great spot for the Tip visit.
