Arriving at the park just after 5:30pm we found Stewy and Renee in their FJ just finishing setting up their own camp.
Now, here's the first lesson learned this weekend.
DON'T LET THE FJ GUYS CHOOSE THE CAMPSITE
    .
I don't think it was the FJ guys that chose the site - pretty sure it was one of Stewy's mates in a Patrol. And not all the FJs were scared of by the rain, in fact there were 3 FJs and 3 Prados which stayed for the Saturday night storms. Do I detect a bit of FJ envy their Snaga

And for the record, only FJs attempted the "hill"
Ok, I now drive an FJ Cruiser but did have an 90 series Prado for 11 years and before that, 4Runners from 1985.

And none made it it with one breaking an axle, still a great weekend with a Prado prepared to play with the boys.

Nah, not one iota of FJ envy here.
The dig about the campsite was an ongoing thing from the moment we turned up and the FJ Crew leaving because of the rain was just picking up on the same vibe from the thread on the FJCC forum trip report... which implied the Prado's were soft because the FJ's were going places that they didn't.
As Richo mentioned, the Prado's that wanted to follow did but for me... owning a 4WD has never been about conquering a hill.

                  Thanks Leon,
Interesting read, Some of the FJ guys sounded not to happy with the crowd. Were there a lot of others at the climb as well
or was it just friendly ribbing...?

                  Cheers

Yea it was just friendly ribbing, I was on best behaviour, no sledging, on SWMBO instructions. We decided to split the group up as it was taking forever to get anywhere as the group was too big.

Sunday when the tracks were wet was a lot of fun with some sdieways action and some heart stopping moments as I went down one side track with locked up wheels just stopped short of going over the bank! We did some tracks that were challenging on Saturday afternoon after the FJ contigent had left.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

So did any FJ's have lockers?

The hill looks good but not that insane.

All FJ's in Australia come standard with a rear locker from Toyota.

We'll have to arrange another trip in due course as this trip was at short notice.
                            Another Park perhaps ????

As I'm now between both forums, I enjoy the company from both sides.
I will only say that FJ Brisbane crowd like the challenge of any trail and will give pretty much anything a good try.
I'm still getting used to the potential from my own FJ. So mixing with both groups,.keeps it interesting.

Richo was on his best behaviour that weekend and the Prado's were a bit out numbered.
Yes, agree with Snaga that the Main Campsite would have been more ideal. But some arrived a bit earlier and chose that particular spot.
Woody's attempt at Beer-O-Clock Hill was a gallant effort in my opinion given the conditions.
Video's never show the full extent.
I've watched many attempt it before and have seen what can go wrong with busted CV's, Rear Diffs and PropShafts.
But everytime I visit the park, the hill climb is always different. On this particular occasion I was lucky enough to ride shotgun to guage it for myself.
Unfortunately after too many attempts, the stress on the rear axle was just too much.

Look forward to next trip out. We should do another trip soon.

                            cheers
