  • Road Conditions Coffs Coast?

Anyone on the forum live in this area?

We're heading off Saturday morning (02nd Feb). First stop is the caravan park at Arrawarra.

From there our plans are going to be changed somewhat. Heading further north is going to be off the list for a little while. So we are now going to spend a few days cruising around and slowly head back south. Even with the rain easing, I'm thinking most places will be to soggy to even think about.

Any first hand accounts much appreciated.

I live just up the road at Corindi. What park are you going to? They were mostly underwater yesterday. Definatly ring a check with them.

I will swing past this afternoon and have a look and get back to you.

    Cheers
    Chris

      Cheers!

We're planning on staying at the Arrawarra Beach caravan park for a couple of nights.

If the rain has stopped it usually dries out pretty quick.

I'm easing my significant other into this whole camping thing, so I can't make it to much of an adventure yet. From there I'm now looking at staying at a few of the lesser know camps spots on the coast as we cruise back to Sydney. Hopefully it will all be drying out by the weekend.

Ah good one. The Arrawarra beach park is pretty good. The amenaties are pretty dated but its not too bad. The Mojosurf backpackers stay there, but they are off in their own section and never give much trouble. There is also Darlington beach and the Lorikeet parks just near by. The Lorikeet would be pretty wet, there was still water over the road on the way in yesterday afternoon.

It also might pay to check out the park up at Corindi or even check out the park up at Red Rock.

Definatly have a drive around before you decide which camp to stay at.

        Cheers

Had a run around on my pushie last night.

My pick would be Corindi C'van park. Was nice and dry up there.

Cheers mate. I rang Arrawarra today and they tell me its dry and mostly sunny. Monsoonal conditions in Sydney Town today.

Whats Corindi and even Red Rock like these days? I gave them a go some years back and didn't exactly have the best time. Mostly due to the *ahem* clientel at the time. I will have a look while I'm there anyway.

So for a bit of a follow up - we did our little trip away and I can say "mission accomplished" in getting my partner hooked on getting away from it all, despite mixed blessings from the weather gods. Our new tent leaked like a sieve but that was all part of the adventure. Points to Anaconda for refunding my peso's. More research required on this before the next trip.

I have to say I was really disappointed with the caravan park at Arrawarra. Its been some years since I stayed there and I remember the cabins being very tired then. Now they are bordering on derelict. Its a fantastic spot, right on the beach, but I will be steering clear until they decide to improve things a little.

Hat Head was as great as I remember. I would love to know what sustains this little town as its always very neat and tidy. All the houses are well kept, everyones driving late model vehicles. Nothing is run down or uncared for.

Now I finally have the go ahead for a more suitable vehicle, so the hunt is on for a Prado!
