  • Gulf and cape York trip 2013

Last year I was trying to plan to do this trip but being my wife was pregnant and the wet season was dragging on a bit, I decided to can the trip and look at going this year.

So I have bought a Toyota prado 120 series diesel, which will get a long list of things including 4" lift muddies snorkel duel/triple batteries my 40+ 32L Engels etc..

I have a mate that's coming up from WA to meet me somewhere in Burke (central NSW) for the trip.

So the plan is 6-7 weeks (depending how the 1 year old goes- but is quet and content girl).

I will be going from Wollongong nsw up through central nsw into QLD, through mt isa up to burketown then across to karumba then up as much of the west side of cape York up to the tip and then down the east coast as much as possible through daintree national park, port Douglas and back down east coast home.

Thinking of around July, August, sept for timing (no dates set yet)

If any one is keen to possibly meet up/come let me know as the more the merrier (will be a bit of stop offs for fishing though)..

Or let me know if you have any recommendations of places to see and go, I'm just trying to get some info to plan this thing, or if you need permits etc.

    Cheers
    Brad

Sorry Brad - didn't meant to hijack your thread. Stay on PP long enough and you will work out what we mean. And please, please, don't take much of what I say too seriously. All a bit of fun.

Brad you asked for ideas. I will be towing the Cub to Cairns in late June and will go by the MV Trinity Bay to Seisia. It's a 3 day sail calling in at Horn Is and Thursday Is on the way. Expensive but should be a great sail then can drive back via OTT and the parks to Cairns. I am interested in how many river crossings on the interior road.
