    2. Shan
    3. Anders
    4. Josh & family!

    New south Welshmen

    1. Braddo -cathedrals from the 21st

Who is meeting up in noosaville/tewantin Sunday?, Monday? (Banana benders) :-)

    1. Dusty 74 - rainbow at 10am Monday
    2. JSS - for some part, probably from Sunday/Monday.
    3. Gympiebrowns - Sunday play day.

CHECK ABOUT PAGES 8&9 for some extra info/light reading.

So the rough plan, as usual very rough, it always smoothes out as it happens.....
    Sunday get to noosaville.
At least 2 of us will be having a look from noosa to rainbow beach Sunday.
Monday morning cross river up beach to rainbow beach to buy all permits. (if we haven't already- I think we need the permit to drive cooloola part beforehand)
Up the road to inskip pt ferry to Fraser.
Looking to explore and check out some of the usual attractions.....it will be pretty much on the move, relocating camp most days, (so we don't have to go over the same ground over and over). See how it goes......
    Saturday 27th
Back off the island, spend a night or 2? at hervey bay or elsewhere and get a steak for lunch/dinner _ (i know a spot).
2 days to get home...... that will be the hardest part.....driving home......

Interest has been expressed in getting to the sandy cape.
Lets see how conditions are. Sounds good.
This could be an optional day trip from waddy point those that don't want to do possibly difficult, could relax at camp, or sit in the champagne pools all day :-)

    Compulsory gear/things for this trip:

    UHF on ch10.
Full tanks of fuel - before the barge, tewantin/rainbow beach. Cash & cash for the barge - that is easiest.
tyre pressure gauge and a spare one.
snatch strap, equalizer strap, shackles, suitable strong tow/recovery points, shovel.

optional recovery gear: whatever you like,
    exhaust jack, winch, maxtrax/treds.
    Tidechart, weather forecast.

If you use the first correctly and have some sand driving experience or are willing to learn you shouldnt need anything.

We are panning to get on the island Monday morning inskip pt.
Either way it looks like 6 days 5 nights on the island will be sufficient for this trip.
We will plan to head off to Hervey Bay on the Saturday 27th in the arvo....4pm?
I think s the last barge.

      Car permit is $42.15.
      + $10.70 if driving cooloola

You need a permit for camping, its $5.45 per person per night.

Depending which barge we go over on its around $65 to $95 each way.
cheaper if you buy a return ticket $90 inskip pt, personally I like going different ways.
if the wether is good we will camp, if it is crap for any time like real windy or rain we will try eurong resort for a room for about $90 a nite.

I noticed we have "cheeky lovers on this thread " meet local singles for dating!

            anyway...

sounds good, I will plan where we will be more acurately, eg could be in narrabri saturday night, and hervey on the sunday night, or could even meet up over there, plenty of options, join & leave as you please......

If you're interested, there's a private 'Resort' just past Eli Creek called 'Cathedrals on Fraser'. It's got cabins but also fairly reasonable rates for camping. Has toilets, hot showers, shop for supplies and ice and stuff and a pretty impressive camp kitchen which would be good to gather in. I've been dying to try it out so I might try and come up for a few days in the middle for a short stay. It also seems like it would be a good location as, being just north of Eli Creek, it would allow you to get up to some of the northern attractions like the sandblow, wrecks and champagne pools that we normally don't have enough time between tides to get to when we stay as far south as Eurong.

                http://www.cathedralsonfraser.com.au/

Don't count me in just yet but I'll be trying to get some time off to come along if I can.

and FYI, you also need a vehicle permit to drive on fraser island minimum is a month for $42.15
                http://parks.nprsr.qld.gov.au/permits

and the barge is cheaper from inskip point - rainbow beach ($100 return) than from Hervey Bay ($155 return) but not much in the grand scheme of things. If you don't mind skipping the steak at Hervey Bay though, the drive back down to brisbane is much nicer along rainbow beach past double island point and you come out just north of noosa. Much nicer than the highway from Gympie. And the steaks at the rainbow beach surf club are pretty good too with a spectacular view (but might mean you miss the tide for the beach run back if you stay for a few bevvies)

Ohhh naturally, you can float down Eli creek but u need fuel to get back up :-)

The more I think about it, probably stop around noosaville/tewantin a night then, cross the river there, and travel str8 up to rainbow beach,
Will need $6 or so to cross he river and a permit to drive the cooloola part, but probably save fuel in distance to pay for those, and its more fun, that's what we did last time.

Sounds good, do we need to book in to that? or can we show up?
yes I forgot about the permit for the car. Do you have exact rates for camping? And one way rates for those 2 ferrys?
Just prefer to go one way come back another, not worried about saving $30 when on a holiday lol...... But good info, bring it on....
I think when we are at champagne pools we can just camp up that way, waddy point maybe... it will be a on the move kind of trip not really a base, although may stay more than 1 night in places.
We have done day trips from eurong, to champagne, etc, just have to plan the times well, with the water, and watch how high the high is and ocean swell etc. I have found there is plenty of beach to drive on up that end.

Trying not to miss this steak, it was that good, last time we stayed at Hervey, and went there 3 days in a row for lunch + 1 dinner lol....

                      Gday
We are going to be on Fraser just before you arrive. We are staying at Cathedrals and will be taking a TVAN that we are hiring. This is going to be a test run to see how it all goes with our bub who will be almost 1 by then.

Our plan is to dive up in two days with a stop over in Yamba. Head over from inskip point. I get an easy run north as wife and bub are flying up to Brissie to spend time with her mum. At this stage we are staying a week, so should be plenty of exploring. The return trip is going to be via Hervey bay as i have relos that live on acerage just out of town. This will give me time to head up to Bundy to help their economy by spending up big at the Rum factory.

I have been to the Island a few times just doing day trips from Hervey Bay, but this is going to be awesome staying on the Island. We are going to be camping with a few of the wife's relos - which is really better than it sounds. So far the vehicles in our group are 4 Prados, a 200 Series and a Rangie (i think).

                      cheers
