This is a notice board for anyone heading across this year and would like to catch up or maybe allow a tahalong or two.

Our trip is in the planning stages for this trip...outline as follows:

2-4 trucks
West to east
Depart adelaide
July School holidays
Bucks trips TBA
10-12 days..

Anyone else thinking of heading across?

Hoping this thread will be like a notice board for other simmo trips this year...might have a few beers at big red.

@####....august...bugger...im trying to go during holidays so patients dont feel put out..

@heath...we are using the first day of school holidays a "day 1" day 1...farina...day 2 Oodandatta...day 3 dalhousie springs via mt dare final refuel...day 4 rest day at the springs....then we hit simpson....we are not goind straight across....we are doing the typical zigzag across...

Might see you in birdsville
Hoping for a better trip this year, since we didn't make it across lat year, broke down just past purni bore, not the Prado, my mates d22 that is!

Hey Gaz are you interested in company to tag along with you? I am planning a trip but all my soft mates are out.
It is just me and the missus in our 120.
How set are your dates, as I was thinking early July? But may be able to do late late June.

To anyone else... I am planning a simpson crossing east to west around the 8th of July from Sydney.
In a 120 diesel, me and the better half... no kids.
Anyone keen to tag along you are most welcome, I think for this trip 2(or more) is better than one.

Hi heath...we are resting at dalhousie for 2 days...then birdsville 2 days....my guess if you go onto oodandatta instead of coward springs you will only be 12 hours behind us....so we can have a few beers before I head across the next morning....
FYI....depending on conditions...ivespoken to a few people who avoid. Coward springs at night due to the mossies in massive numbers...

Sorry mate been offline for a couple of weeks, my mates d22 bottomed out and smashed both front shocks clean through the lower control arms. We just removed the shocks and drove back to mt dare. The lesson was slow down and carry much less weight. Coward springs was one of the highlights for us last year. But I can imagine how the mozzies might be an issue, none at all last year though, weird. Also IMO stop for an icecream and fuel if required only in oodnadatta, not the greatest spot, but just IMO.

We are camping the other side of Ood....not in it due to comments from other Travellers. ...regards...might see you up there.

Yeah good to hear mate! We had a great campsite north of ood last year just a dry creek bed . I'll keep any eye out for your number plate.

Big Red will be closed from 8.00am Monday 8th until 10am Tuesday 9th July for a John Williamson Concert. Might also mean than Birdsville will be quite busy around this time.
