Dunno if any Brissie-ites are interested, but have tentatively planned a run around Bribie Island on Saturday Arvo....(22/12) . I got my new yearly permit so thought i would give it a tryout! Only been there once before, but plan to do the inland tracks , then onto the beach, stopping for a paddle, then home. Low tide looks to be 2.30pm, so was planning to start from the Bongaree Caravan Park at 1.00pm for anyone interested who hasnt got a permit (you can get em there..)

Good idea LFAR.... Bribie has some advantages ...its close to Brisvegas, and usually not too crowded. However,its definately a LOWTIDE ONLY destination for the beach drive. Yesterday low was at 2.30pm so was perfect.. Again, not crowded at all, so ideal. We drove from the Beach Entrance at Woorim up to the top, had a cuppa, and home via the inland track. Inland track is pretty desolate due to past logging, but track is in the most part nice soft sand, with the occasional bump to keep you amused. However, be mindful of very real possibilitiy of staking a tyre on the copious tree roots and sticks hiding in the sand.... we got one in our group... thank goodness for the old Safety Seal Plug kit ..worked a treat on a very badly staked sidewall! All in all, a great spot for a quick blat up the beach at short notice, providing the tide is favourable. I got a yearly permit for $100 or so, which will suit for just that purpose.

I was over there on the 21st of Dec, getting use to driving on the sand before my trip to Fraser. Definately a nice destination as it didn't have many vehicles or people on the beach.
