  • Fraser, Were you there?

I was wondering if anybody has just returned from Fraser Island. If so I am sure we would all appreciate a report on the evac and what it was like up there. Anyone who can report?

While watching the news last night I saw one Prado towing a camper trailer, racing the tide and getting quite wet

I was over at Fraser on two occasions, one on the 23rd and 24th of and another from the 26th to the 28th. I booked the barge from Woolgalba Ck on the 28th at 16:00 but left on the 11:00 due to bad weather. On the way back to Caboolture QLD (where we are staying atm) we heard that the island was in the process of being evacuated.

We experienced king tides on the second trip, there were times were it was low tide yet the tides were close to the camp ground dunes. On the second night it absolutely poured down like crazy! Mind you, the trip back to Woolgalba Ck wasn't as bumpy due to the wet sand.

Regardless, we still got to check out Eli Creek, Maheno wreck, Lake Mackenzie, hoping to type up a trip report soon.

On both trips the Prado didn't miss a beat, only thing that happened was that the dif lock light on the dash was ever so slightly lit at times. Planning to get this checked out once I get back to Canberra.

Got to just north of Brisbane (from Sydney) on 28 Dec. After seeing the footage on TV and listening to the weather report decided to can Fraser and head back to Sydney (and spend NYE on the harbour watching the fireworks).

From all reports glad I did - conditions still do not look good
