Cheers, Leon There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

And Rob_macca, that Zook of yours is a little weapon. I hope to see it on more day trips. It's good to follow or see something in the rear view mirror different than a Prado from time to time haha. Change is good
With these sort of Trips, I kinda prefer to take the Zook for obvious reasons + I know what it can and cannot do.....+ its cheap to repair
Here's some more pics of the Track that no one had travelled on in a LONG TIME:
They were Richo's photos I used in the first post, I was too busy with an arm out the window trying to break off bits of lantana. As a result my right forearm looks like I've gone 10 rounds with a rabid cat.
I don't want to put any low timers (says he with only 4 years experience) off in regard to coming out with us as we tend to adjust the trip to suit the experience level but the nature of the country means that occasionally things go awry. I like to enjoy the drive and elevate the skill level a bit each time. Heck my wife and I do tracks solo now that 4 years ago we would have considered impassable.
The trip itself was a good example of how you have to be prepared for anything I guess. In some masochisitc way I'd happily go back up and spend some time clearing a couple of the tracks properly, so you could drive it and appreciate the scenery at the same time. Sure at a couple of stages we were in OMG what are we doing here mode but everyone kept their sense of humour and at the end of the day the odd 2" bit of timber in the innards is just plain bad luck. Richo also copped a similar piece that went in over his left rear tyre and tried to punch out the plastic wheel arch fairing but he got it out OK. I think Bia did the day without bashplates so full marks to him and as Craig can attest, those CV boots can get damaged in the most innocent lookening situations.
For mine you could cop a rock from some mud carter just driving round the 'burbs and do a windscreen or whatever so all in all the damage was minimal, apart from me suffering muscle strain from an over-clenched sphincter on the last bit. I appreciate Bretts comments because I did wonder if it was just me panicking quietly and over-emphasising the degree of difficulty.
It's a great country we live in, I hope to see a lot more of it in good company like this trip.
Leon we were a fair way away from ranga country by all accounts but when I saw the farmer come out I did think "If only Leon was here..."
Here's my two cents worth, the trip started perfectly with a pie at the Kilcoy bakery, left on time and aired down on 10 Mile Rd. there are a couple of tracks off to the east off this that I mentioned looked like"interesting side tracks".
The experienced "fellow Richo traveller" Fozzy could see where this was leading and suggested we may try them later if we came back this way, so my plan was in action.
We did some of the tracks we had done before and they were damp with some mud holes but not low range.
That was until the Lantana Track! I was Tail End Charlie and did offer the Lantana Reduction Device to Fozzy but he declined.
As Fozzy said on a lantana scale this was an 11 out of 10 so as they weren't doing a great job I used the machete to clear my way. I'm sure the bike riders behind us appreciated my efforts
So lunch at Peach Trees and the suggestion was too take some further tracks back towards 10 Mile Rd....the others didn't suspect my plan at all.
In the lead I showed Fozzy how to clear tracks and we came to the "interesting side track". The fun began as the others have commented. I must admit that as last car when we got to the interesting section I was hoping the previous cars hadn't weakened the surface.
The track was only recognisable on the GPS and by the bank cut into the mountain, Fozzy has now earnt the title of "Explorer".
Fozzy has also been inducted into "Ranga Whisperer" club.
On all a fantastic day finished off by an exciting track to finish, thanks to all that attended and a big thanks to the Explorer.
Richo.
PS Fozzy, here's a photo of the 150 after a wash custom pin stripe don't show that bad on white cars, still when do you want me to drop the car and polish over to Prue?
