    SEQ Day Trips

    Hi PPers

    Can anyone recommend some good day trip 4WD tracks within 90 mins at most of Brisbane?

    I have been already been to the following:-

    1. Duck Creek Road to Oreilleys
    2. Belthorpe National Park
    3. Mt Mee
    4. Cityview 4WD Park
    5. Mt. Tamborine

    I'm more of a beach fan myself although they aren't as challenging. Bribie island is a nice drive. You can run up the beach about 20k's and there's a bit of an historical walk at the end you can do. Then you can come back the inland track. The sand is very soft and powdery though so it can be a bit hard going. There's a nice little park about 2 k's into the inland track you can stop at for lunch too with a big covered area and a few tables. I'll be doing the run again in a few weeks time if the beach ever recovers from this weather if you want to come along.

    It's not a patch on double island point though if you don't mind going a bit over your 90 minute rule. You get on the beach at noosa north shore and drive up the beach about 30ks to the point. You can then take a quick track around the point and continue up to rainbow beach on the beach although I hear that's pretty rugged at the moment. The alternative is the freshwater track which is a nice drive that comes out on the highway about 4 k's south of rainbow beach an has a few soft bits that might challenge. The surf club at rainbow is a great spot for lunch.

    There's a heap of others in the dirty weekends in sth east Queensland book that I haven't tried yet. You should grab a copy of that.

        I would love to come with you to Bribie. I will bring my boys. Can you confirm a date so I can check my calendar. I haven't done Double Island point yet. Love to do that one as well another day if anyone is keen.

          I agree. Belthorpe is really nice. Some interesting tracks. CityView is my pic though. I have been a couple of times and would definitely go back again. Heaps to explore and there are camping facilities if you are keen to stay overnight.

            No one has mentioned glass house mountains? Cannot vouch for the 4wding since I have only mountain biked there and not really sure what is off limits.

              Hi George, I haven't really picked a date yet. I've got a few weekends worth of work to do round the house and finishing off my drawers. I'll probably aim for end of June sometime if the tides look good. I'll keep you posted though.

              I'd like another double island point run too but again, probably a few weekends away for me.

                There's a glasshouse mountains trip in the dirty weekends book but I haven't done it yet so not sure what its like. I'd be keen for that one too one day.

                  Wallers Rd out off the Gatton Bypass is a fun drive too! Probably an hour and a 1/2 out of Brisbane and would make for a good 1/2 days drive

                      Thanks Craig, I didn't know about that one.
                      Tiny end of June will work for me as it's school holidays as well.
