  • MUMSRIG's fishing trip from Perth to Kal to Balladonia. PICS

    Hi all,

I keep missing out on all of the Prado Point trips, so I thought I'd post some pics from our little jaunt last week.

We left on Wednesday morning to head to Kalgoorlie and meet up with a few mates to go on a bit of a fishing trip to Point Culver for a few days.

To start things off we had to deviate around Southern Cross and Coolgardie as the Great Eastern Hwy was closed due to the bushfires at Bodallan National Park that had already claimed 3 lives. The Main Roads Dept said that we had to go through Brookton, Corrigin, Kondinin, Hyden, Lake King, Ravensthorpe and then to Esperance, Norseman, Kambalda and finally Kal. Bugger that for a joke!

When we got to Hyden I had already spoken to a number of truckies and was assured that the Hyden/Noresman Rd was OK to traverse but they were unsure about the condition or whether or not the Victoria Rocks Rd to Coolgardie was open. Once at Hyden we enquired again and were told that Victoria Rocks was definatley closed and also that someone had just died on the Hyden/Noresman Rd

Anywayz we decided to head to Noresman and encountered a little bit of traffic, but nothing out of the ordinary for that road and arrived in Kal 3 hours later than we would of by taking the normal route, if it were open.

Once we arrived in Kal, we had to pack the other vehicles and set off the next morning to Balldonia.

Just a little bit of dust!

The 82k's or so to the coast from the Eye Hwy takes about 2.5 hrs to traverse until you finally hit the Escartment.

Unfortunatley all good things come to an end and after four days of fishing it was back to Kal.

A quick stop outside of Widgemooltha to check out the home made out of 44 gallon drums. A hermit lived here until a couple of months ago.

Then on Monday it was back to Perth!

Fishing and 4WD'ing. Does it get much better? (bear in mind fishing and beer is a given)

Yeah, it's nice to get to different and remote spots...

Supposed to be going to Esperance (the Duke) to go fishing next week, but I think I'm going to pass due to last weeks trip away and the 4WD show happening on the same weekend...

Need to get some stuff done around the house aswell
