I found the watergauge track, it's on the southern side and currently subject to the seasonal closure from 1st June to 30th September

Moonan Flat sounds like we need to make the pub there a priority, we do enjoy a good country pub

Craig, I'll be up there Sunday 7th hopefully with the wife and the tin lids. If I manage to get my two way wired up by then, I'll PM ya the channel li will be on. We are just going up for a easy day with kids and a sausage sanga BBQ lunch.

I would love to be up there but it is not looking good, the Minister is heading off to Brisbane on Sunday arvo.There may not be a lesson in Blue Storm superiority.

if you want a top feed you will have to follow the barrington tops forest road all the way over the tops to moonan flat, the pub there has a great feed and top country atmosphere, sorry craig i cant find the gps co ordinates for the watergauge but i will find some directions off google maps and get them to ya from gloucester. cheers samo

Cheers Samo. Already got the Moonan Flat Pub on Sundays itinerary (Victoria Hotel). Dont worry about Waterguage mate as most of the Nat Parks tracks are closed between 1st June and 30th Sept. peterpilot has kindly provided me a detailed map of the Tops and I've got all the tracks downloaded on MotionX and setup my Waypoints in readiness.

thats a bugger about watergauge, i thought it was on the state forest, not national park, dont confuse it with watergauge trail which is on the polblue side, if you do happen to enjoy yourself to much moonan flats pub has some accommodation, its basic but after a few ales its very comfy, thats speaking from experience. cheers samo

Good one Peter. I was using MotionX Terrain which although provides some good info on the terrain (naturally), the Bing map shows more detail on the tracks. My MotionX app on my iPhone doesnt give me an option to download the Bing maps, only MotionX maps...

The Bing maps aren't downloadable, they require network connection to view but once the waypoint is saved it is possible to navigate to it on another map selection even if the network isn't available.

Yeh, just done that thanks. I've saved a waypoint for the Watergauge Rd turnoff and yes, it does show up on the MotionX Terrain. The Tileset I've downloaded for the area is 245MB

google maps on you iphone works as well, shows all the tracks and names and is pretty accurate as well. cheers samo

no coverage i can tell you but mine worked when i used the location services, tap the arrow in the bottom corner twice so it follows every turn you make and it ill show you the tracks and names, its using the gps in the phone not cellular. the google maps app should come on the phone.
