  • Glasshouse mountains?

Thinking of heading out for a play this weekend or next weekend with some mates. Ive been a few times before but what entrances do people usually use? I went a few months ago and saw no evidence of cameras or signs etc. Has anyone been lately?

I should mention I got into the tracks via steve irwin way, then turned left at the little IGA shopping centre and went in through that way where the lookout is everyone drives to.

Macaroon no dramas mate will let you know. I am in no means an expert at the tracks I've only been 2 times and havent done any of the crazy tracks like big red etc but more of just a little play.

geez there was some mud out there, to say the winch got a workout would be an understatement. Great day out and no signs of cameras or anything that I could see. There were dozens and dozens of cars and bikes out there.

Sounds like a great day out. Do you have a track log? Which entry did you end up using?
I saw you posted a locked question in another thread, because of the mud at Glasshouse by any chance?

haha definitely because of the mud at glasshouse! Ive only had the prado 8 months, been offroad heaps but mainly sand this is the first mud encounter and it just gets bogged to easy with a wheel lifted. Ive had solid axle cars in the past (some with lockers) and i would have laughed in those cars seeing a prado get stuck on little stuff so I need to fix it asap! My winch got a workout thats for sure! I do have a track log but need to work out how to get it off the VMS. I entered via mcdougall road at elimbah. Best way to get there is via beerburrum road near the caboolture markets/showgrounds. Great entrance there were heaps of people there riding bikes and driving cars no one seemed worried about police or cameras etc.

I will give the cheap tigerz11 winch a plug as i had to winch myself twice (both times in sticky mud so lots of weight and suction) and a mates surf a couple of times, a bt50 once as well so it copped a workout! First time using it so very happy. I will try and go back when its a bit less muddy though as cleaning it was a b*^ch....

A lot of places are very muddy around SE Qld with all the recent rain.
Mud and rocks are really where the lockers come into there own in my opinion.
I have traction control in the 120 , as does the 150's and it is pretty good,no denying that but in my opinion lockers are just another level up and you can walk it up a lot slower
Case in point the other week, 150 with traction control on a muddy slope had diagonal opposite wheels spinning , you could see traction control constantly kicking round robin as different wheels were slipping and the the 150 just wasn't getting drive. Couldn't get up the hill until another new line was tried.
With cente diff locked, I switch on the rear ARB locker and drove straight up even with some slip up front
Of course full muddies would also help a lot as well.

Thanks for the Glasshouse info and good to see your winch got a workout.
                cheers
