  • WA - Dwellingup to Yarloop - Saturday 19th January

    Hi all

Just floating a shorter day trip for this coming Saturday 19th January.

I reckon meet in Pinjarra at 9.00 am (9.15 departure) and head up to Dwellingup. I would like to have a quick punt around the Nanga 4WD Heritage Circuit (Trip No:3) in the morning, stop for lunch at Nanga Campsite (the same place we stopped for our 15 car trip), then pick up Trip No:14 and follow the Murray River Fire Line around the back of Lane Pool Reserve and down to Yarloop.

This trip involves some formed gravel roads, forrestry trails, fire line trails and great scenery down by the Murray River .... some ruts and corrugations .. but no extreme sections. Some sections are through tree lined tunnels and you will get the odd sap line on the paintwork.

There's a few thoughts behind this .... (yeah, go on ... fall over laughing .... but there is some thought goes into these trips    )

    1. A little bit tamer than last weekend ... out of consideration for standard suspension .... and that I haven't got my tyres sorted yet ops:
    2. It involves a section that we've done before (in the wet) and I want to check it out in the dry.
    3. I want to explore some more camp sites
    4. I'm also filling in the gaps in my maps and building a series of tracks between Collie and Armadale .... for future runs
    5. I flipped weekends to match up with work schedules (MUMSRIG ) so that we might also get to meet a few more WA 'Pointers

and 6. (and this is the cool one) ... I'm looking at a series of tamer tracks ... that we been over and GPS plotted during the day ... for a night run ... perhaps even over a weekender

Not fussed if there's no interest, I know its been a busy month, but I'm still on holidays ... so I'm going anyway :P

It would be nice to have a GPS along (hey Sharkbait / GPS Boy  ) so we can add this to the plot.

Anyone interested ?? ... and I'll post a bit more detail.

    Cheers
    Chippy

I'm in (I'm still going to be on school holidays.....kind of) and would love the opportunity to do a bit more driving myself on some tamer tracks! I still need lots of practise in lining the Prado's body and wheels up to things after drinving my little Pulsar.

Fishnut is out scuba diving right now so I haven't checked with him. He has to rip a pergola down at his mum's this weekend - let's hope we can swindle that to Sunday!! :?:
If you're not the lead dog the view never changes!

                      were in

Count us in chippy, would love to come. Do you guys mind putting up with the mrs and kids though haha.

I might add though that our bus is still standard so am a little unwilling for any extreme stuff as yet. I am still shopping for bits and pieces.

Is there anything i may need before the weekend as in recovery gear or points.

                      Looking forward to it.

                      Cheers

                        Cool bananas Steve

Bring the whole tribe .. I am

I'm certainly looking at this trip being relatively easy on standard suspension .... in fact, last report on the Nanga Circuit was that you drive around it in a Corolla  :? ... and am more than happy to backtrack around any troublesome areas.

The trip notes claim that there are no extreme sections on this trip ... just some fairly tight tree tunnels and some wheel ruts ..... but its Dwellingup .. and there are so many detour tracks available.

                        Cheers
