Hotham and Dinner Plain last weekend.

G'day.

Me and the missus went up to Harrietville for a few days and took a leisurely drive up to Mt Hotham and Dinner Plain on saturday. It'd been snowing like crazy the night before and it snowed pretty much all day so the scenery (when we could see it through the cloud) was pretty spectacular.

Was also very intersting watching several people in normal cars try to drive through the snow without chains...

We stayed at Dinner Plains a few years back and loved it. The trip up the mountain in a white out similar to pic #3 was interesting to say the least. I wish we were in the Prado back then instead of our Statesman.

And a couple from last Sunday at Falls Creek. We had light rain and high windchill which resulted in a lot of ice forming on the car (and us as we skied around the hill)







I had to smash the ice around the doors to open them - was about 15mm thick in places and worst at the bottom of the back door - took a lot of kicking to break it (the shovel was inside the back, will leave it between the seats next trip)

Thanks for posting that MKH, bought back some memories. We did the trip up to Hotham in a Sigma Scorpion once, the Parks guy said we didn't need chains. About the 8:30 mark in your vid we were spinning 360s so had to just pull over and fit chains on the side of the road, scary stuff.

Mount Hotham airport earlier today
