I was just looking through the photos again and found mysellf marvelling at the condition of the Sygna. I remember when she beached herself 30 odd years ago, I watched it all happen and the storm that caused it was quite something. Looking at what remains of her today I would say there will not be much left of her in another 10 years.

We were also privvy to seeing history in the making on the day as we watched a section of the new desalination facility be towed down to Sydney. There was some discussion on the day as to what it was but on the news that night they announced it as part of Sydneys new desalination plant. It was quite a distance offshore but still stood out like the proverbial dogs you know whats.

There was a story in the following Mondays Newcastle Herald. It is in Newcastle for the next month having a drilling rig installed before continuing down to Sydney to build the desal plant. Its siting in the western basin, and still stands out like dogs balls from work.

My old man was there the day it was beached and he has a mirror still hanging on his wall at home that was salvaged from it. Just a wee bit of useless trivia for ya!

                        Cool.

I have been told that if the weather is crap we wont be going up there.

I am anticipating a large number of vehicles and people about this long weekend. So if you do head up there be aware of this and the safety aspect.

At this stage we are planning on setting up camp on the lee side of the dunes around the bigger of the lakes on the way to the shoreline.

I cant remember what UHF channel worked ok the last time we were out???

I will be taking a mate from works Waeco to try and convince the wife that its a necessity
