Clarence River Wilderness Lodge - June 2014

Hi All

Anyone been to the Clarence River Wilderness Lodge in Northern NSW - http://www.clarenceriver.com/

We have booked in for next weekend (the long weekend) to take the camper and Prado down for a bit of an explore and 3 glorious nights away from Brisbane. We have one of the remote wilderness sites (I really love cleaning the portapotti...). Had some friends go and they said they had a great time a little wile back. Seems to be a few tracks in the area as well that we might explore.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Never stayed there but we stayed near by at paddys flat (free camp) last year lovely area but the river was a bit low and plenty of fly's but that was in the warmer months. http://www.expandasdownunder.com/thr...-49-2-ob.4347/

Hi Daniel we have been there twice, the first time was in summer and we got ticks, then the last time was not the last Easter but the one before and no ticks then. It is a typical riverside grassy flats and bush camping can be a little sandy in some spots so have some sand pegs. The driveway was mostly one lane for about 7k's I think, not good when you meet oncoming traffic, it went down the side of the mountain to the river below where the lodge and camping areas are. 4WDing there was a little bit around I remember one track that went back up the hill you came down to get there, but on a different track it is drive through the camping area along beside the river downstream a road branched out to the left up to the phone tower it was a little challenging or you can just follow the river and cross it down further then the track stopped further down maybe a fishing hole there with a few cars parked around we saw some people carrying fishing lines back. The drive to paddy's flat was okay, not bad spot for free camping.

Thanks Ron, I have been told about that one lane drive in / out - fingers crossed we meet no one in either direction when pulling the camper in. I believe they may have had some passing bays added. Thanks again.
