Adelaide to cairns thru the guts

This years winter break is fast approaching. Me and the navigator have all of July to blast up to Cairns - first week, then take 2 weeks around the coast down to Townsville. and back to Adelaide through the back of QLD & NSW. The run to Birdsville is set. turn off the bitumen At Yunta, thru to the Strezlecki and Moomba, then Walkers Crossing to Birdsville. The next bit I am up for suggestions. Do we continue up the Eyre development road to Baulia then across to Winton. Or alternatively do we take the Birdsville development road to Windorah and then up to Winton. we are always looking for changing scenery, so don't mind going a few k's more for better landscape. We are looking for more diverse country which I think the Windorah run would deliver. I will be towing a 1.2 ton off road camper. any suggestions / comments will be much appreciated.
