SE QLD - Out little day trip to Ormeau Hills/Shaws Pocket Rd

I've got some track logs of Ormeau if anyone's keen?. One of which has a more technical track that requires higher clearances if they want a bit more of a challenge ( some track building may be req'd...)

I will be going for a Sunday trip tomorrow 10th of Aug to Ormeau Hills/ Shaws Pocket Rd.

Soo we did go for a drive to Ormeau Hills great place meet a group of 4wd from Brisbane.

We're off to Ormeau Hills again tomorrow. It's for fathers day. A family day out and give the new awning a test run on it's new home made mounts.

Hi BillzOR I would love to get there soon as I've never been to ormeau & am not that far away. Got Father's Day & finish off kitchen tomorrow . Did Levuka last weekend & off to landcruiser park next week for training so can't swing this weekend. Have fun.

Hey, noticed this comment on 4x4 Earth http://www.4x4earth.com.au/tracks.ht...s-Pocket-Road- if you loo at the comments at the bottom, one from July states that Police and Council are handing out fines for using the area, is the true? Are there signs?

Yep, we had a chat to the boys in blue and the council officer. No fine. Gave us a cock and bull story about how although some of it was gazetted council land others ran through private property. Said it's just a fire trail and track for energex now. 5mins down the track on the way out we came across a Crimestopper chap and lady. He was a pom and a real nice block. He said it's all gazetted council road and as long as you stay on the main track they can't do shit about. There are no signs or fences (except for Cliff Barrons Rd). They said people have pulled them down but it's all BS. The 2 main entrances at Shaws Pocket Rd North and Upper Ormeau Rd never have had fence there. We weren't told the conservation story though. Seems like they were just making it up as they went.
Either way they recorded us and noted my license and rego. Not worth the risk IMHO. My dad works at council (and has done so for nearly 20 years in traffic) so knows a lot of ppl. He's gonna find out for me the real story as he was gonna go up their himself in his GU at some stage knowing it was council land. The private property of the quarries is cleared marked, fenced and sign posted.

Got a few vids too but yet to rotate them and cut out the bad bits.

Edit: Vids - Climbing a rocky hill after ending up down a creek bed. It was a lot steeping than it looks. The misses drove this 1 and well I might add.

I had a chat to Dad yesterday who works at GCCC and he confirmed after a chat with the inspector that was there Sunday....The Ormeau track is closed, even the council marked "roads"/tracks. They have closed it due to too many illegal activities in the forest like dumping of stolen cars and rubbish. Essentially a few bad eggs have once again ruined it for everyone else. They have placed a few signs up in the past but within hours they are gone. They know there are no gates at Upper Ormeau Rd or Shaws Pockets Rd entrances and are looking to fix that.
Either way it is illegal to go their and it's a hefty fine if found there.
You may come across a Crime Stoppers GU telling people you can go there, just stay on the main track. This is incorrect and the police are fuming about it.
