If anyone has little kids, do not let them out of your sight, seriously. These are cunning and dangerous animals that view humans with no regard whatsoever. You are in fact just a big bag of meat, and children, little, easier to access bags of meat. These are NOT cute puppy dogs, as the many backpacker guides tend to make out to the gullible tourists. Don't let this deter you from Fraser Island however, just treat the Dingos with extreme prejudice. The Island rangers will not look twice if you do (barring usage of firearms etc).Originally posted by BiLLz0r View PostCool. We're going up there today then across to Wathumba.

We were being herded up like cattle and lunging at us. It wasn't until we were able to get to the bush and I got a large stick and they bolted long enough for us to get to our car. Less than 10 secs later they were at the car sniffing around. We found some Rangers today so filled in an incident report. They said were very lucky. A guy got attacked by 3-4 last week. He was a staff member of the pub/shop at happy valley. The 3 dingos have been 'removed'Originally posted by Beach View PostThat doesn't sound good. Haven't seen. Single dingo this whole trip. Sounds awful. Plenty if 'weapons' at our camp though.
We went the west side today via Waralee track. Wouldn't believe it there are three families setting up camp in the car park! No joke, you can camp anywhere you want on the west side and they chose the day use area! Twits.
Caught plenty of whiting and some dart over there so much nicer conditions and beach that side.
Still my freezer is full and we are heading home tomorrow.-=2014 GXL D4D Auto Graphite, Firestone Airbags, ARB/Optima D34 Dual Battery, ARB UVP, TJM Airtech Snorkel=-

The problem with dingos is they are so cute, and tourists, especially from other countries think they are domesticated and treat them as such, usually giving them scraps of food.
The dingos associate humans with a free lunch and this causes problems.
We need to remind everyone that Fraser is a beautiful place, but some parts of the island are rarely seen by tourists and are quite remote. You need to be prepared in these situations as there is always a risk when wild animals are concerned, and dingos are wild animals.
