  • Hyden to Coolgardie via Cave Hill(Holland Track)WA

I was lucky enough to be asked by 2 farmers near Hyden if i would like to join them on a version of the Holland track and it took me all of 1 millisecond to think about it.

This would be our maiden voyage in the new car and camper into the real outback so it was a good test for future trips 8)

The weather was perfect mid 20s and no rain 2 weeks prior to the trip and after seeing some of the sections i would definatly not travel the track after rain.
Most boggy sections have tracks around them but some you must go through and this would degrade the track somewhat.

Lo range was never needed and towing the camper was a breeze with ample room to negotiate the twisty bits.

    DAY 1

    PERTH TO LAKE COWEN

If anyone wanted to know where Lassie ended up i think i found her
We found this on the way to Hyden and thought it was quite amusing

            Awesome photos Moto,

Did the Holland track a few years ago. Brings back great memories. A must for everybody who can. Have never done the Cave Hill part though.
Actually camped at The Breakaways at Christmas in the very spot of your last photo. Was on our way to Tassie where I am now based.

              Thanks johnv,

Shame you didnt see Cave Hill, great camp site and a lot of history there.

We didnt see Thursday Rock,Victoria Rock or the other sites on that part of the track to Coolgardie,so we have to plan another trip maybe in September

                      Hi joey,

The scenery out there changes so much every 5 mins and the track whilst dry is easy to negotiate and the camping spots are everywhere.
You could quite easily spend 4-5 days if you wanted to look at all the spots.
North Queensland is where my wife wants to see so i dare say we will be around your way in the not to distant future.
                      Cheers Moto

                          Nicely done MOTO.
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.
