  • new mission 26th april----lake mitchel tracks

ok guys after some deliberation on where to go if we didnt over night we came up with some good tracks and pretty well virgin country..., even though we christened Crammys brand new rig in this area..

we will head to mareeba and cut inland at lake mitchelle follow the tracks around its shores and hit the hills..

topographically they look great.. a few trips ago we did a small trip there and had a ball.....dont worry its not the rig breaking tracks that i have been accustomed to lately.. awsome scenary and good tracks are the order of the day...

i am thinking the usual macas smithfield at 7.30.;.

let me know if you have any ideas to add

7.30am at maccas sounds the goods, looking forward to getting back onto the old track where my Prado lost it's virginity...

So pack some lunch a couple of light ales and we'll be set for a good day.

Have a good trip guys. I'll be in Melbourne at the MCG watching the footy. I expect the usual photographic evidence.

        Cheers

Hope to make it. Sounds good. Got my UHF fitted on Monday. Got some checker plate for my radiator/condensor bash plate too - just need to get it on. I've been around there in the Landcruiser a few times but this will be the Prados first trip off the tarmac - scarey. Ah well, it has to get dirty sooner or later I guess.

well it was another great drive for the cairns boys. clear blue skys and good tracks..

we had a little bit of everything in what was really a exploration day..

although we had only three rigs we had a blast..

                    Crammy ,Boss Hog and myself..

we left our usual meeting and breaky spot,Smithfield Macas headed up the range to Mareeba where we left the road and headed inland...

this got pretty interesting as the road which was on our maps soon vanished under 8 foot grass!!!

once we found the tracks(or the grass thined out), we encountered water crossings and great 4x4 action

this was one water crossing we thought might be safer to go around!!!

after that we just rolled on and discovered great driving and future camp sites..

we found this little gem for a lunch and coldie stop...then we crossed it!!!

BOSS HOG IN HIS BRAND SPANKING NEW D4D

it was another greay day thanks to crammy and tim for coming along and cant wait for the next mission

There certainly was all sorts of country that we crossed. From dirt roads to following the GPS which was showing a road that we couldn't see because the grass was as high as the car, to wide open flood plains where the road was just a cattle track

Couple of Joey's mates we saw along the way... Joey was pretty popular with these guys at one stage, they were running down the track after him!

                        Some places were dry

                        And some wet.

                        Joey

                        MTZ's chewin it up

                        Joey

It was another great trip out, thanks Joey and bosshog for a bloody good day.

                        Cheers,

                        Crammy

(Chuck the MTZ's were bloody awesome, you could feel them bite in and give plenty of traction, especially when in a rut and trying to steer out of it. So yeah I'm pretty happy with them at the moment, they don't handle anywhere near as good as my AT3's on the highway but thats to be expected.)
